J2TAF_Gasman Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Hi. I decided to make the jump and tried the OpenXR mode. I have two version of IL-2 on my computer, so I have altered the one I launch from the IL-2 launcher rather than the Steam version. I dropped the dll file in and initially added the "Force Steam" line in. It fired up and the tool kit worked. Looked very sharp with 80+FFS. Dropped into a instant action mission and no controls. Trying to map the keys just came up "null". Turned off and rebooted the computer, went back added the "opencomposite.ins" line from DCS and also took the key mapping file from the other version and added it in so I would not actually have to remap..... partially worked. Graphics noticeably better with a FFS around 6O during a DF with ultra settings and 37ppd. ...... But half the controls not working even though when I go on the mapping area it tells me they are (i.e. the rpm was moving with the throttle but the in the mapping screen it is independent but the pedals won't work)..... removed the DCS opencomposite.ins file... controls didn't work again... removed the force steam line. Still opened....added the "opencomposite.ins" line, some controls worked but pedals and throttle still not recognised! Noticeably I have to log into the game each time I reboot it and only the BoX Normandy is appearing rather than all the other BoX titles....... Returning the game to openVR mode and all controls work. Then tried to put the Steam version into OpenXR with the .dll file. Booted up but no mouse inside the VR environment. The mouse was working on the monitor..... so I was unable to progress from the hanger. Retuned it to the OpenVR mode and all worked normally again. Any help very much appreciated as the graphic boost appear significant if I can just get it going!
Drum Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Go into your device manager (windows) and make sure all your USBs are not set to allow the CPU to turn them off, right click each, click properties and uncheck the power management allowing the device to be turned off to save power. Do that for every USB you have.
J2TAF_Gasman Posted August 12, 2022 Author Posted August 12, 2022 Thanks Drum, unfortunately no joy. Tried your suggestion and no difference. The really odd thing is that my VIRPL throttle appears to be working on the mapping page but the throttle and the rpm (second throttle) will only move together when the game is running. Tried reinstalling the .dll and adding the other file in the DCS OXR discussion and no joy there either. ......very strange. 1

Somewhere there is a complex engine management setting I believe you will need to enable, sounds like your on the simple engine management. Edited August 12, 2022 by dburne
J2TAF_Gasman Posted August 13, 2022 Author Posted August 13, 2022 Doh! Of course.... its a different install! So, did that and unplugged the pedals and put them back in and suddenly it works! Thanks.

J2TAF_Gasman Posted August 13, 2022 Author Posted August 13, 2022 Next problem is that every time I open it from the installer, it opens in non VR and requires me to check the HMD box then reboot. This then seems to cause an issue with SRS and while I can hear the SRS I cannot communicate..... Otherwise, graphics so much sharper and better FFS ..... and XR toolkit works..
