Force DX11 - Fix for stutters, freezes, crashes on WMR

While searching for answers to my recent constant freezes, crashes, and stutters on IL-2, I found this post on reddit under r/HPReverbG2. It worked for me on my Samsung Odyssey too:

I turned on the force DX11 mode, and it was like night and day! No more freezes or crashes or stutters in my game!

I was even able to crank up the graphics a little.

My specs:

GPU - AMD RX 5700 XT

CPU - Ryzen 7 3700X

Ram - 32 GB

VR - Samsung Odyssey (original)

Strange - I don't understand why a force DX11 would make a difference in a game already set to run in DX11...

I believe it's steam VR that's running forced DX11 rather then IL-2 ?

Ah ok can't say I have ever noticed that one. Still though seems like it would use DX11 for a game running in DX11.

A couple of things:

1) does it only improve things with AMD GPUs? Anybody seeing a difference with NVidia?

2)[removed since it's raising eyebrows... sigh...]

I recall having this issue over a year ago where both IL2 and DCS would stutter like crazy and once their game window lost focus they'd run smoothly once more. Setting force dx11 would "fix" this.

However, after either a SteamVR update or a GPU driver update this stopped being necessary.

I'm not sure all the reasons why this seems to help. I'll keep playing and let you know how it goes.
