JonRedcorn Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 Is there any way to save a default head position so when you reset the camera it goes back to this position, mainly just for the German aircraft that have the offset gunsights would be nice to have the default head position slightly to the right.
FTC_Karaya Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 Only way to "fix" this in the German planes is to use the "Lean to gunsight" command. Unfortunately since TFS changed the headshake G effects a couple patches back from being affected by angular velocity to angular acceleration, this lean to gunsight view has become a fair bit less useful. Pilots get thrown around the cockpit like loose cargo and squashed into their seats when pulling Gs as if they are made of jelly. 2

Yeah I noticed how hard it was to stay at the gunsight while maneuvering. That;s a bummer TF devs should implement some default view setups like great battles to at least let us setup behind the gunsight. Won't be an issue for VR players when the patch comes but for everyone else it kinda sucks. Thanks for the reply bud, enjoy your vids a lot! Edited August 3, 2022 by JonRedcorn 3
5th_Barone Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 The jelly pilot head has been quite an issue since it was integrated into the game. I mean the effect could be nice it's just the fact that is exaggerated atm. Do the devs will have a plan to update it? 1
Team Fusion Buzzsaw Posted August 3, 2022 Team Fusion Posted August 3, 2022 You can turn off headshake in your settings. 1
5th_Barone Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 (edited) Hi buzzsaw, Yeah we know that, but would be still nice to use it. Also because in MP (that is what I'm interested) it's a server side settings. But I'll get your answer to my question as a no. You don't plan to adjust it. Cheers Edited August 4, 2022 by 5th_Barone
Art-J Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 ^ I hope that's not the case. Whatever was changed doesn't bother me when flying, but almost makes nauseous during takeoffs and landings on grassy/sandy airstrips. There's nothing realistic or immersive about horizon line rotating in such exaggerated manner in both directions. Original implementation seemed to be better. Turning the headshake off isn't a good solution either, I'm afraid. 2

Turning off headshake is not an alternative, as it also removes the stall buffet effect which is the only means to tell if you are near the stall. I'd much prefer if TFS just went and toned down G induced headshake as well as the gunshake effect by say 50%. That would remedy much of the "squishy Jello-Pilot" experience as well as the washing-machine-in-tumble-mode gunshake. Edited August 4, 2022 by Karaya 5
Knightmare Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 (edited) Perhaps an unpopular opinion but I quite like the headshake and especially the gunshake. In historical accounts, gunshake was potent enough to stall a Spitfire in a climb. I personally also enjoy the feeling of how powerful guns and g-forces feel. Perhaps a good solution would be to allow more settings for each user's preference. Edited August 4, 2022 by Knightmare
JonRedcorn Posted August 6, 2022 Author Posted August 6, 2022 I mean really the g effects on the pilots head just makes it a real pain to keep your eye on the gunsight. In VR it's a non issue, with head tracking its a massive pain in the rear. I'd love if TFS reduced this effect. I wasn't even sure it was a feature and just me moving my head too much while maneuvering. I guess it is the game making me unable to line up a shot while rolling side to side. Not a huge fan of that exaggerated movement. Even if you keep the movement please give us a view behind the gunsight in the 109 like it is in great battles or even DCS. Having to manually look behind the gunsight with the sometimes finicky movement of open track is not a fun experience and makes me not want to fly the 109s in the game at all. The look to gunsight command jams you into the gunsight and destroys your peripheral vision and doesn't let you look around at all. I'd assume adjusting the defualt seat position isn't that big of a task.
