BrianHicks Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 I have enjoyed Flying Circus immensely. Mine IS NOT a steam purchase, but direct PC download. I have recently purchased a Valve Index VR full kit. How do I play Flying Circus with the the VR headset? I have played a few other Steam VR games. But my Flying Circus is not from STEAM. When I click ENABLE VR in the settings from the startup up screen of the Il-2 Sturmovik game, the Steam VR screen of the 360 degree starfield comes up, both on thee headset, and the monitor screen, and I can not proceed beyond that. What am I failing to do? what should I be doing?
dburne Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 With Index all you need is Steam VR and enable the VR in the IL-2 Graphics GUI. Should be pretty simple, as Index is a native Steam VR headset. You do not need Steam running, just Steam VR. And really when you launch IL-2.exe Steam VR should run automatically for you once VR has been checked in the game GUI.
=IRFC=Gascan Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 Does the game start up the rest of the way? Do you have full screen enabled? I run Flying Circus on a Valve Index and purchased the game via the 1C store, not steam. Flying Circus is just a module for IL2:GB, so even people without the FC module can help you, since its all the same base game. I have the "Enable VR" box checked, the "Fullscreen Mode" unchecked, and the resolution turned down as far as I can go. The resolution only affects the image that is rendered on your regular flat monitor, not the VR experience, so a high resolution there will cause extra load on your machine without affecting your play experience. After I press the "play" button, the Steam VR app opens up automatically and the mirrored view shows the game loading. It then shows the login screen after a bit, and I can log in and play the game as normal. If you take the head set off and look at your regular flat screen, do you see any signs of the game running?

I see the start game screen, but which kind of controller is to be used? The mouse does not seem to respond, and the Index controllers... same. I do have a Joystick and rudder pedals that I use, along with key board in regular game play. The Version of IL-2 STURMOVIK (Flying Circus) is not Steam resident
