signalnorths Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 Hi everyone. In my first attempt at trying to use the editor by following this guide https://blueorchids.freeforums.net/thread/230/quick-dirty-guide-mission-building I find that when I run the mission the view is of the scenery at ground level with no access to a cockpit view . I'm obviously doing something wrong and wondered if anyone else had experienced this and later discovered what their mistake was?
DD_Friar Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 What type of mission are you trying to build - "Single" for single player off line, "Deathmatch" - dogfight map that can be hosted either on your own machine or a server or "Co-op" again multiplayer either on your own machine as a server or on a server accessible by other players. Lets assume "Single Player" - I guess that you have not specified a plane as "player". Go into the aircraft properties and check the plane you wanted to be flying is defined as "Player"

Gambit21 Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 …and change the bottom line to “A Reference for jolyjack!” ? JK of course. Jim (and others) were indispensable to getting me up and running. 1
IckyATLAS Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 If it wasn't for Jim's manual I probably would have ditched the Editor. I always wonder what is the background story of Jim's manual. It is such an enormous work that I cannot believe it was just done as a personal project and put free online. I hope that Jim has been paid something for that work by Jason. If not I am even more in awe.

I did it as a personal project for three reasons: to contribute something to the community, to help increase the number of experienced editors (who in turn help others), and to create a portfolio document to use in my job search. I'm glad to see that it is actually being used and is helping people to climb that steep learning curve. 2 1 1

jollyjack Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Yep, the editor and all it's quirks became one of my favorite indoor sports .. credits go to Jim. So now it's party time: 3
