Manual throttle handling

After a few mounths of absence I went back to the simulator (I missed a lot ...). Maybe I forgot some things, maybe very simple, though there are facts that I cannot control. One thing that bothers me a lot is, for example, the lack of manual throttle control.

Sometimes it seems that the AI intervenes on my settings, independently modifying the throttle percentage. For example (in this case with a Spitfire Mk VB, but also with Bf-109 and other types), if I give the maximum thrust to 100% and after a while I try to reduce a bit of the throttle to get, like 90%, it is not possible because the percentage drops automatically to 29%!

Sometimes it doesn't mantain the percentage set for a cruise (say 75% or 60%), but it swings back and forth ... It seems to me that it previously this did not happen.

Could it be that it is an update in the latest version?

How do you do it and avoid it?

I specify that in realism I have deactivated all the facilitation options, both in the "simplifications" section and in the "Piloting assistence" section.

Thank for helping.

Sounds to me like your throttle is malfunctioning. Does this behaviour also show in the Game Controllers screen in Windows? If so, if it's a potentiometer-based throttle you might be able to fix it by a good cleaning, although this would be a temporary fix and long-term a new throttle would be needed.

It seems to be my case, as in the Key Mapping >> input responses section, the movement of the throttle is not fluid but jerky. I also tried to calibrate the device, but the problem still exists.

Can you explain better what your remedy consists of "fix it by a good cleaning... Do you mean a physical scrubbing, brushing or what ...?

Sounds like what is called a 'spikey' pot (potentiometer).  Basically, within the pot the conductive track that the wiper brushes along to get a resistance value is dirty (likely due to dust).  To fix it you'll probably need to disassemble the joystick, find the throttle pot and either blow it with canned air or use contact cleaner.  Did this recently with an AV8R with an unsteady throttle axis and 20-80%-jumping Y-axis and the issue went away.

Yeah this isn't a real issue something is either wrong with your controls or something on your computer is malfunctioning. This doesn't happen in the game with proper setup controls.

It can also be the connections to the pot. ☝️

For years people complained about rudder (and throttle) spikes on the Logitech G940, so many attempts to fix it via software but nobody thought to just open it up! The terminals connecting the wires to the pots were horribly loose, just crimp them down a bit - problem solved! I used my rudder pedals for years with no problems.

My father had a similar issue. A few reconnects and checking external software plus internal settings seemed to fix it.
