will every b-26 drop its gear and open the bomb bays, every time, before it crashes.

That's how they bailed out in reality.

Nice that the Devs added little touches like that. But could you elaborate a little on the bailout procedure? I mean, why do they lower the gear? I can't imagine they exited through the nosewheel bay, did they? Or is the idea to reduce speed prior to bailing by increasing drag?

The emergency exit on the B-26 is in the nosewheel well. Strange design, but it worked. I don't know what they did in case they couldn't drop the nose gear from battle damage, but it was probably a bad day for everyone aboard.

That would be for the Nose Gunner/Bombardier, for everyone else they would escape through the bomb bay doors. But why in the game do the main wheels come down, maybe to induce drag to slow it down?

Looking at this image here the Nose Gunner/Bombardier had an alternative escape route which was the bomb bay ?

They did. Go and have a look you can see the porthole that they drop out of and the pilot models appear there as they bail out too.

I have screenshots but they aren't up yet.

Not sure of the date, since it doesn't mention using the wheel well, but as you can see, using the bomb bay was standard procedure:

I wondered this myself, but it's definitely something that makes the B-26 unique.

Might have been a trade off going on there, manually dropping gear could provide a hydraulic back pressure from the falling gear to open the bay doors.  One couldn't quickly bail if you lost hydraulics, or the system was reduced and too slow.  C-130's were capable of doing this with the back doors, manually breaking the uplock on the top door allowing it to free fall with the hydraulic master selector in the correct manual position would raise the lower ramp most of the way allowing fast closure without hydraulics or power on.
