Rjel Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 (edited) I think after the Fourth FG, the 357thFG is the one I've read the most about. Here is a P-51B as flown by Maj. John B. England from mid May 1944 to sometime in July of 1944. At that time he transitioned into a D model Mustang. The link below discusses his career in WWII and his untimely death in 1954. Like so many other U.S. aces and other fliers having survived WWII and then died at an early age through accident or later combat in Korea, so too was the fate of Maj. England. https://toflyandfight.com/major-john-englands-p-51s-362nd-fs/ Two versions are presented here with links. I'll upload it to Haluter's sometime this week. The first version is from May of '44. I like the looks of it without the D-Day stripes. The second is from the Invasion period with full D-Day stripes. Just a word about my skins. I don't heavily weather them as I don't like the look personally and I don't do it well honestly. I also put far too much time into a skin to end up making it look bad on purpose so I weather them to suit my tastes. I simulate dirt and grime, oil leaks and faded paint, ect. I hope those who try this skin will enjoy it. I had a lot of time spent trying to blend in the panel insert on the engine cowl. Getting it to match in color and then getting the mission markers to line up where they were partly on the insert and partly on the cowl was a major PITA. All in all, I thought it turned out pretty well. Feel free to comment. Constructive criticisms are tolerated. A final note, to those skinners who can turn out quality work at a production line pace, I hate you!!! Edit: Both versions are now available on Haluter's Skin Downloader (HSD). I guess I wasn't thinking along those lines. I can post both versions of the skin with swastika kill markings. Without diving into the political, I decided to redo my older skins along with U've Had It! in the style the developers adopted. I think most of us understand what the markings represent but someone who isn't a history buff or simmer likely doesn't. I use screenshots I've taken of the game as backgrounds for my work computer. A few folks have asked why there's a swastika on it when they're visible. I don't want to be seen as promoting something I abhor. Plain and simple. Finally, I need to apologize to anyone who D/Led these skins already. I found a couple of glaring errors in them. Namely, I forgot to turn on one weathering layer I use in the template and the same is true for the Nav lights on the wingtips and tail. I've corrected both and will re-upload the skins tomorrow. I'm also going to disable the links above until I do. Edited July 27, 2022 by Rjel 2 2
