Joystick Settings

Hello guys, has anyone had a problem with the joystick settings erasing?

Yeah everyone it's a recurring problem to which I have found no fix.

It's really a pain in the butt.

The only fix I found is to make a backup copy of the data/input folder and copy it back over when weirdness happens.

The game is good, but it has many flaws in its layout

I've backed up my user files in several places, but have not had settings get erased. If I remember correctly, having Steam Cloud on can cause settings to reset with every update so that obsolete settings return.

With Steam Cloud you do have to be careful, sometimes after an update it will throw out that there is a mis-match between local and cloud settings and ask you which one you want to keep. I would not say it happens every update, but more frequently than one would like.      Best thing to do is definitely back up so you can restore your settings if using Steam.

The typical issue is joystick axes and buttons are lost but keyboard bindings are still there. If that's what you experience it's because Windows has give your Joystick a new id. If you have your settings backed up you can replace the old id with the new one in a text editor.

 

I haven't had this issue since I started always using the same USB port for my controller and using the program devreorder as described at ATAG https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23995

 

Turning off Steam Cloud for this game is highly recommended too.

Thanks for sharing Dawson, I will disable Steam Cloud. I recently changed the USB port on my joystick, I believe that was it. I will avoid

Yep, once you create one controls profile, you need your joystick is connected to the very same USB port you used when you created that controls profile.
