Feldgrun Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 I've bought and played CLoD, but have yet to get Desert Wings. Is it the same as CLoD, but with a different plane set and different maps? Still the shaky reticle in the Bf 109 when you fire 20mm?
LLv34_Flanker Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 (edited) S! Shaky reticle? I fly the 110 a lot and the reticle does not shake much, if at all. Headshake on? In the 109F and forward the centermounted gun should not shake reticle much, maybe a bit on the Emils? Tobruk has quite a few new planes and the map is nice, a rarely modelled theatre of war. And the summer sale makes it even more worth it. Edited July 8, 2022 by LLv34_Flanker

There's a very simple way to check if whether or not you are happy with the evolution of the game: go back to your "Cliffs of Dover" and upgrade it up to the current "Cliffs of Dover - Blitz" version. Maddox Games (2011): "IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover" Team Fusion Simulations (2017): "IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover - Blitz" The above two titles need to be considered as two separatated games developed by two different companies, this is even how they do appear in the Steam library of games.
Feldgrun Posted July 8, 2022 Author Posted July 8, 2022 I bought through Steam in 2021, so I have Cliffs of Dover Blitz. Is Desert Wings - Tobruk essentially the same?
Dauntless Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 (edited) Pay for add on for Blitz! https://il2sturmovik.com/store/desert-wings-tobruk/ Edited July 8, 2022 by Dauntless
Art-J Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 (edited) @Feldgrun Depends on what you mean by "the same". DW Tobruk is a payware addon for CloD Blitz, which adds North African map (as the name implies) and a couple of new, relevant aircraft, ground and naval units. The core graphics, mechanics and whatnot remains the same, though. Edited July 8, 2022 by Art-J 1

343KKT_Kintaro Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 "Desert Wings - Tobruk" is nothing but an add-on for "Cliffs of Dover - Blitz". They share the same core engine.

It is a very different game from the 2011 CLIFFS OF DOVER. It has been continuously upgraded since being published, with many improvements just over the past year. DESERT WINGS - TOBRUK adds a new map, and over 40 different aircraft types and variants as well as 20+ ships including huge Battleships and Cruisers, as well as dozens of new vehicles and tanks. Includes multiple new Campaigns and missions. Both games will be updated free to the latest 4k graphics standards as well as VR capability with a Visual Update planned for late summer or fall this year.
Feldgrun Posted July 10, 2022 Author Posted July 10, 2022 I hope that the game will support VR in the near future. My version of CLoD is Blitz, and I’ve been playing it more lately. While I can’t say I like it better than GB, there are things I tend to like better.

We are testing a VR Beta right now... which requires both games to be a part of the test group.
