beresford Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 I finally managed to get off the ground with the default bombload and fuel and some flaps. No boosters, not sure how useful those things are. Anyway I'm now urged to climb at 400kph, but I can only creep up to this speed by flying level. Am I doing something wrong (other than listening to Technochat)?

Asgar Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 I think you're doing something wrong, not sure what it is from your post but... have you forgotten to retract the gear or flaps? ?
Dragon1-1 Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Boosters should be quite useful (I don't have BON, so I don't know), AFAIK most Arados took off with them. Early jets had serious power deficite at low speeds and require careful handling in that regime. You need a lot of runway, that's for sure, and accelerate first, climb later. You need to go fast to go fast, so to speak, and getting there isn't always easy, especially with a heavy jet. 1
ACG_Bobo Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Boosters are very usefull for takeoffs. After take off, don't climb steep, let the aircraft build up speed. It takes a couple minutes to really get going. Then climb. Not too steep or you slow down again but you should be able to maintain a respectable climb rate once you've got your speed up.
