I've finally got some free time to set up my controllers. I'm using TrackIR, CH Rudder pedals to turn/pivot steer the tank, CH throttle to control forward and reverse and a CH Combatstick to control the turret. It's working quite well. However, when occupying the TC (Tank Commander) open hatch position, the guy occupying the position obstructs my view. I either have to lean forward or backward so I can see. Is there any way to remove him from the hatch? Thanks in advance!

Never mind! I figured it out!

I have never seen an option for this, but it would indeed be interesting, this "logic" was also present outside Track IR...

Turns out my best option at this point is to adjust the TrackIR dead zone so I don't zoom in or out if I lean forward or back, then hit F12. The guy only shows up if I lean way forward or back.  I use buttons on my throttle to zoom in and out anyway.

I use TrackIR all the time and when standing up as the commander do not recall ever seeing "myself"?

I notice you do not have TankCrew listed in your products only BON, are you using the free tanks?

No, I have Tank Crew. I bought it. Try standing up in the TC hatch with your TrackIR on, facing the 12 O'clock position, then lean back, causing you to "Zoom Out". I'm not crazy. The Tank Commander is there. I'll take a screen shot when I get home from work.

nah, you're not crazy, we believe you... but except if the devs make a patch for that, there's no other solution... you can complain to the devs about it, but there's no should not experiment a quick change I think ...

just wait and pray...

Ok. I am crazy! I've got it figured out, though.  It just has to do with my TrackIR dead zone in regards to leaning forward and backward. I've never messed with my TrackIR settings as the profile I acquired from Requiem has worked just fine up until now. But it would be nice if we could just make the TC just go away. Right now I'd settle for BoN and the planes and vehicles I pre-ordered to be released!

Hmm,

I think you're in the wrong forum. So many of us enjoy TC even with all flaws in the game. I believe once BoN is released, TC should get more attention to correct these flaws.

Wonder who uses fixcameras actively with TC. With planes, especially FC, i use it a lot.

I found that disabling the Z axis in TrackIR has resolved the issue completely. I have zoom in and zoom out buttons assigned on my throttle so I never really used the Z axis anyway. Disabling it has actually increased my love of TrackIR even more!

I tried it. Not for me. Besides, I'm pretty heavily invested in IL-2. I'll just stick with that for the time being.

I think you are misunderstanding the conversation. By TC, I mean Tank Commander. Literally the Tank Commander standing in the hatch of my tank in IL-2 Tank Crew.

I have the same problem. Never thought about adjusting the TrackIR dead zone. Thanks for the tip.

I'm glad this benefits someone other than just me! I don't know if you read the post, but disabling the Z axis in TrackIR works great if you don't like using it to zoom in or out.

S! Scott,

I completely misunderstood your comment. The tank commander can get in the way sometimes. I use the position keys, pge down, page up, home, etc. to place myself in his place.

No worries! Forums and text conversations in general are breeding grounds for misinterpretations and misunderstandings! I ended up simply disabling the Z axis in TrackIR and then hitting F12 to center my POV over the TC's hatch. Works like a champ!

The point of the commander character is a valid one.  If I am in the position, I don't need some knucklehead cartoon character blocking my views, which he does.  I unbutton and move fwd, back, side to side to get a better FOV around trees all the time.  But If Im fwd and look back   etc the cartoon guy is blocking my view so I have to re-center.  Would be nice to have it eliminated, or move when you move so your vision is not blocked

PROTIP: To remove the tank commander, shoot at him until he dies.
