Is GB "Air Marchal" still being considered or ... is it now completely abandoned ?

Jason has mentioned many times in the past that what he calls "Air Marchal" is to offer not only a new MP feature, but also a UI upgrade.

We know the lead programmer had left the company, but does anyone have any idea whether we can still expect it or is the superb "AQM Builder"

 its replacement ?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the AQMB and Air Marshall were always completely different. AQMB is a single player generator using the old campaign engine to create fast missions to fly. Air Marshal was to add a strategic layer to multiplayer.

I know Air Marshal made it to beta testing, but I'm assuming it is abandoned at this point. I'm sure only the developers can say though!

It's still being worked on, but the Battle of Normandy has a timeline for delivery, the Marshall Mode is not part of the BoN release and is a stand alone feature for the game in Multiplayer.  They still have the fuel systems to do, and a host of other things to accomplish in this third quarter.  The Me-410, and the Map have not made it to Alpha or Beta yet.

Cheers

The problem with Air Marshal is that we still doesn't have in game voice comm. Some use SRS but few. Some guys while flying in VR disables chat for better immersion so we can't see any information was written.

I think before AM, there must be better in game voice comm addressed to communicate players in some simpler way that doesn't require outside programs.

You can always try srs on Combat Box. There is some kind of AI Air Marshal. You can find many commands there and take some missions. It is quite simple but what they achieved with it is really impressive IMO.

Ok thank you also LG/F=Gora_

Sounds promising nevertheless.

I still hope it gets released, sooner or later, with or without SRS like features !

yes the SRS ai controller in CombatBox server is pretty awesome.  i would love if they had something like that for SP as well for missions/campaign/careers...

In game voice chat would make a huge difference, would totally change mp. Been saying it for years.

Jason Williams mentioned this last year, the particular programmer who was working on this feature left for elsewhere but was still trying to finish it in their spare time. It was probably in one of the 'Officer's Club and Briefing Room' posts.

P.S. AI ground controllers, or AI squadron commanders would be pretty cool. I'd be pretty satisfied with just improved spotting though (it'd be great if the commander in Tank Crew gave orders if one is playing as the gunner in single player, the same goes for AI calling out the rough positions and types of ground targets to other members of their flight or crew - it'd give the navigator on the Mosquito something to do). So that'd be a higher priority for me, but I fly single-player so herding cats is less of an issue!

Can't compare an easy to use in game setup to SRS which is a pain to setup and get working right. Apples and oranges. If all I have to do to in game voice chat is click "join flight" and join like 4 other guys in a flight team so we can talk to each other I think we'd see a lot more communication. It's be cool to have squads system, so flight leads can talk to other flight leads, sqauds can talk to squads, and the commander can talk to all the flight leads.

if there is so many ppl who wont to cooperate online they could do so now with no big problems, thing is there is not many ppl who wont to cooperate, and there is even less ppl who wont to do job of coordinating bunch of hartman wonabes in 24/7 server.

AM is failed concept and its good they dont waist time on it any more. PPl who wont organaised stuf can do so without it, and also game dont need aditional performance hit to MP by adding in game voice, there is planty outside of game options, and if player can fuiger out how to set up his stick pedals tracker he can for sure fuiger out how to set up his coms, this is flight sim not some arcade shoter with low iq ppl.

There is so much more to it than that.  Even if we don't get 100% functionality, there are some nice things it does I'd like to have just to plan a mission for myself, as I'm sure those who don't know what it does would absolutely love. Never say never....

I don't know how it works here but in DCS I know it was a lot more difficult to setup and get running. I still think in game voice chat would be used more than any third party program because you don't have to download anything...

It wouldn’t make a difference. People aren’t using SRS because they don’t want to, not cause it’s difficult. They’re not interested in flying together, otherwise they would plan some combined sorties, just like we used to do when there were less fighter jocks around.

Most online players just want to fly their fighters solo and shoot something down for 30min before they disappear again

Oh phew, I misunderstood, the lead programmer on the Marshal project has left. For a horrible moment I thought Petrovich might have left.

Thanks.

Sorry about the way I mentioned "lead programmer" ... I meant the 'main/'lead'' one that was implementing this Air Marchal functionality according to Jason ... or so I understood it at the time.
