Blitzen Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Oh almost forgot..Jason ,is there any further info on the development of flyable C-47 and B-25. I'm looking forward to these planes much more than the also being developed for purchase plane & tanks,so.....???

Wow, that must've been quite a feat covering all of those! fair play Luke! they each almost have a character of their own in a way, including the way they blend into the local landscape - it will certainly make this a very appealing map to travel about on with all the unique locations, airfields and towns. I find it quite nice how people can identify and connect with individual airfields if they are familiar with them or read about them - a nice homage to history. 1 1 1

Yes, it was a lot of time and effort, but in the end it was worth it. One thing that really, really helped a lot with the French airfields is that around 1946 the French photographed from the air practically the entire country (or a least a good chunk of it). Since this was of course so soon after the war, most of the wartime airfields were still present in the images. Without a resource like that, the project would have been much more time-consuming. 4 3

Fafnir_6 Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 This is a great DD . I just have one question: will the Me410 have the option to mount armoured glass in the cockpit? I believe it had an Me163-style glass plate as seen in the top-right of the attached photos. Thanks! Fafnir_6 1 1
IckyATLAS Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Incredible cockpit work on this Hornisse. A real beauty. But please check and fix the machine gun flame light effects in the cockpit to avoid having a Christmas light strobe in the cockpit like the HS 129 when firing the guns. The airfields are beautifully rendered, and yes the grass and field colors look very nice. Now I hope that the rendering colors of the Normandy map will be also transferred to a visually updated Rheinland map at least for the airfields. Here two pictures left Normandy, right Rheinland Spring (where the grass is greener). I hope that the two maps will overlap and that at least there will be some common airfields that will be present in each map. In this way we can fly one mission and land on an Normandy map airfield. Start a new mission where we continue from this same airfield but this time on the Rheinland map. Would be fantastic and would love to create such missions. But the colors have to match and the common airfields too. Just one or Two are enough. You already did 100, so one or two should not be too much. Maybe this possibility does also ring a bell with Jason ? At least I tried.? 1 2

ciderworm Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Fantastic work. Can anyone tell me what's going on with what appears to be a hinged panel in the centreline of pilots instrument panel? Never noticed it before, or am I seeing things which aren't there?
=FEW=Hauggy Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Looking good exept for the shimmering on the horizon. Any plans on improving the antialiasing or moving on to another engine at some point in the future? I'm probably not getting an answer but at least I tried.

Screenshots of the 3D model in DD 299 show that it is exactly that - a panel with instruments on it. Presumably it can be swung out of the way for a better forward view. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/168-developer-diary/?do=findComment&comment=1139752 Edit: rather blurry photo (best I could find), showing top to bottom radio nav dial, variometer and altimeter, from what I can figure out. Guster Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 Good stuff! Love the colours on the Normandy map! Is the plan still to release two versions of the map? I'd love to be able to create some pre-invasion escort scenarios with the Mosquitos and B-26s.
Junkers188 Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 WOW it all looks AMAZING! I can't wait to fly the ME410. Thank you all for all the hard work you guys have done. IS there any chance of making "Night Fighters over Berlin" I think that would be cool for late war stuff. Maybe a HE219A or JU88G1's and JU88G6's? Hitting the bomber at night would be really cool. Thanks again for all the beautiful aircraft and stuff you have built for us over the last few years your work was not in vain we love it.
Fritz_Faber Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 (edited) I'm thrilled, the 410 is sure to become my aircraft of choice. A small note to the developers, in german it means 'Kurssteuerung', not 'Kurssteueurung'... Edited July 1, 2022 by Fritz_Faber 2

Thing is, from more than a couple of 100m, you wouldn't notice them anyhow. On the other hand, bushes would have a couple of disadvantages: - Development time/money. Whatever is spent creating new bushes cannot be spent elsewhere. - More trees/bushes means more geometry. More geometry means less FPS. - It's gonna be an absolute nightmare for mission designers to make any ground objects work correctly if placed anywhere near the bocage. Given the above, I'm completely fine with the way the bocage is now. More than. 1 1
