Moral of the story - never leave it plugged in all the time. I use a smart plug and turn mine off after every session. Why in the world Varjo did not include an on/off power switch on their link box is beyond me. Kudos for them stepping up for this guy though.

This is my single biggest gripe.  A couple of times I have left my headset on all night and it really is nerve racking

Good (though surprising) that Varjo replaced the unit.
Do you agree that the Reverb G2 is next best VR. "80% of the performance for 1/5 the price" and "easier to set up" ?
Everyone with a Varjo say its the very best available so if your an enthusiast with the funds it seems like the #1 choice.

Its as well, being in the subtropics and no air conditioning, VR holds no attraction for me. Ha ha.

After having the Aero it would be very tough for me to go back to a previous headset. Had both Reverb G2 and Vive Pro 2. Sold the Reverb G2 recently for a decent price. Hanging on to the Vive Pro 2 at least for now to have as a backup just in case. Plus it will probably be harder to sell as I would sell it as headset only with no tracking system. But yeah I would not want to have to go backwards from Aero for sure.

For the money -  Reverb G2 was pretty awesome. Probably best bang for the buck headset out there. It was very good for flight and racing sims. Sadly though it seems HP is not much interested in putting out a Reverb G3. Scuttlebutt has it they are getting away from PC-VR going forward. I hate to see that.

G2 easier to set up? That would be hard for me to say, as both G2 and Aero have their own little nuances when it comes to setup. I really though had no problem at all setting up my Aero. Reverb G2 along with WMR and Steam VR, got somewhat convoluted at times.

I am still using a Valve Index. I had both versions of the Samsung Odyssey, but never liked WMR. With WMR I had to add lighting to my gaming area to get better tracking. With the Index lighthouses I don't have to do that. The Index works well enough that I don't use icons in IL-2 BoX and only "dot neutral" in DCS and the "dot" doesn't even seem to display until the bogey is already well within visual range . Unfortunately development of VR headsets seems to have stalled. The Aero is very expensive for the risks and compromises required.

I had the Oculus, Samsung, HP Reverb G1, G2, Vive Pro 2 , then Varjo Aero which is in a league of its own.

I like the Vive Pro2 over the G2, found G2 sweet spot is tiny, hated that, also Vive Pro 2 feels more alive in the colors.

Index is a great all around headset with a lot of options built in, like refresh rates. Both the horizontal and vertical FOV are very nice. One can still SS it of course to get a better image quality as well. I still have my Index headset, course now the best thing that came of that for me is the Lighthouse 2.0 tracking system, which I also used with Vive Pro 2 and now with Aero. I really do not have too many hours in with the Index. In fact it still has that new smell to it. Sadly like HP with the Reverb, I don't think Valve has any designs on an updated Index for PC-VR either. Which is a little surprising as I am sure they have sold a crap load of the Lighthouse trackers for PC-VR of course. But it is Valve so who knows what they might or might not do.

The only issue with the lighthouses is that they are not always immediately available thru Steam. I have one on my wishlist as I would like a third LH for backup and experimentation with placement variations.

Yeah I had one on my wishlist as I thought I would grab a third, just kept checking the Steam Store and finally saw when they had it in stock and snatched that puppy up quickly. Wish list was no help, my persistence in checking is only reason I was able to grab a third. So I run three now. Never had a problem with two though previously.
