Dear pilots,

I've noticed that in the Great Battle series you have to put effort into finding the right balance between eye candy and spotting. I've already spent a lot of time tweaking the graphics settings in-game and with the settings of, for example, OpenXR or the NVidia control panel.

I think I have found the right balance in the settings for my system. I use the HP Reverb G2 in combination with a 3080ti graphics card and achieve a very good performance (especially after the implementation of OpenXR).

The problem I now run into is that if I increase the resolution further above 1900 x 1900 the possibility of spotting at a distance decreases instantly. My system can handle a higher resolution and with that the image quality is also much better and enjoyable.  The downside is that it also makes the contacts and the environment itself smaller and very difficult to spot.

I think everyone experiences this. Does someone know how to increase the res and keep a good spotting possibility?

It will make contacts smaller as it will necessarily render the single or three pixels a contact is at their normal size. I doubt it makes the environment smaller.

In the end the only thing I've found that helps is practice. Things like contrast adjustments and sharpening, will of course objectively help make some things stand out in certain conditions but can easily have the inverse effect in other conditions but in the end IMO it all boils down to your ability in scanning and detecting motion.

It's a trade: to have a good res you need small pixels, but to have a good spotting you need big pixels.

Unless you like to fly with labels "on", there is no solution: just find a good balance for your taste.

(Anyway, here you can find some good tips
