Cant join Coop servers?

Hey! I just got this game around an hour ago to play with my friend however every time I join a server I get an extremely intense lag spike and after 5ish minutes it kicks me saying unable to join. Is this due to my account being new?

I assume you are joining your friend's server?

 

If that is the case, the key is how fast your friend's connection is... if he doesn't have a stable or fast connection, you will have problems.

 

I would recommend you and your friend look at the various suggestions for setting up servers and COOPs as a first step.
