Heya all, asked and answered many times, but not in last 18 months. With the Steam Summer sale, a huge discount on all things IL-2, I want to get into the game. So question is; Where to start? Steam has about 40 products for sale ( I know, a bunch of aircraft included). I m willing to buy whatever it takes to get a complete career going. I can't even seem to find a base game (if there is such a thing). They all seem to be campaigns. Are those stand alone? Please some help..

Thanks..

Shortest answer i can give:
1- If you really want to be on Steam, you have to get Battle of Stalingrad, you can get everything else on the website when you connect your accounts

2- If you don't care about steam buy on the website, summer sale and many more are on the website as well and the Devs get all the money.

3- If you're buying on the website: buy whatever you're interested in. When purchasing through the website all the Battle of X titles are standalone.

Want Luftwaffe vs Russia? get Moscow `41, Stalingrad `42 or Kuban `43
Want Luftwaffe vs Western Allies get Bodenplatte `44-`45 or Normandy `44 including pre and post DD day map version

Want tanks get Tank Crew, different experience but fully integrated with the flight sim side of things

4- If you can afford it get the Premium edition it's the best bang for buck, better than buying the included collector planes seperate later on.
5-  You can get any Collector plane standalone, but your single player use depends on what carreers you have available (depending on Battle of titles you own) in MP Collector planes may be more readily available depending on the mission makers

Closed due to personal attack on me in the video. Other than that what is said in the video and in Asgar's post is accurate. I hope to do our own Buying Guide in the future.
