I have not been able to use the rear viewing periscope on the new Ar-234. I’m not sure if I need to activate or turn it first, but I just can’t seem to get it going even though I have a keystroke that is supposed to make it work?

Honestly I probably won’t be using it very much , but I am very curious to see what it does.

A further thought. I can’t quite imagine how, but perhaps if the 234was equipped with rearward guns this periscope might be marginally useful?

Keybind                                                                     Effect

Weapons controls > Nestle to Visor                        Switch to Periscope View

Weapons controls > Gunsight Position Toggle       Toggle Periscope View Between Forward/Backward View

Note that the rear view is upside down, on purpose. Someone pointed out that this makes your control inputs intuitive. E.g., if you see a bandit fly down in the inverted rear view (i.e., fly above your tail) you push the yoke down, raising your tail, which keeps the bandit in view.

Default keybindings are "alt-V" and "shift-V".... I can't recall which is the "periscope" (dive bombsight) vs horizontal bombsight (if installed).

"Alt-f" will flip the dive bombsight rearward. I suspect it's upside down because of the physics of the mirrors within the unit.  It'd be neat to learn more about the system.

The dive bomb sight is definitely reminiscent of Star Wars: "Stay on target...... stay on target..." :)
