Chilli_40 Posted June 24, 2022 Posted June 24, 2022 I'm curious, of the people who have made the switch from a Q2 to a G2 was difference dramatic, was the change worth it? I was thrilled to have purchased the Reverb G2 v2 a couple weeks ago to replace my Q2, after spending hours of reading posts and watching youtube video's and trying different settings. I am finding the color to be washed out and the graphic detail & clarity very fuzzy and cartoonish looking. Cockpit gauges are clear, maybe not as clear as my Q2 but clear enough, but everything outside the cockpit is fuzzy/blurry. I have most all settings set to high as my rig is fairly solid, Ryzen7 5800x, GeForce 3080Ti, 64Gb 3600 ram. What is that I'm missing here, I have no idea what's left to change that would make it sharper, I'm using steam vr with fsr. Thanks for any feedback from your experiences with the change over.
dgiatr Posted June 24, 2022 Posted June 24, 2022 Hello Raven4, You are right about your thoughts for switching from Q2 to G2. Indeed at first glance colors of G2 are a little more washed out comparing to Q2...i had to test two G2 headsets one V1 and one V2 in order to verify that ( i thought in the beginning that i had a faulty device) and the whole image is little more blurry in G2 comparing to Q2 but distance objects like planes are more clear in G2 than in Q2 and i get a better spotting and better identification with G2. G2 blurriness problem solved when i switched from steam vr and fsr to opencomposite openxr and openxr toolkit plus fsr upscaler inside openxr toolkit where the whole image inside G2 is more clear(sharp) and you can make any settings you want for more saturated colors. G2 keeps generally better fps than Q2. 2

May I ask what is your settings that solved the blurriness of the G2? I am using opencomposite as well and i like it but i still feel it is blurry.

I hope the g2 users don't look at this as bashing the g2, I've read so many glowing posts and watched video's about how much greater the g2 is over everything else in that price group, I know darn well it probable me and not the G2 that's the issue. I certainly agree the fps are better with the g2 than the Q2, but we all know why that is. Did you notice the g2 has a smaller FOV than the Q2, my counter says 90* with the G2 and 97* with the Q2. I really wanted to try the opencomposite/openxr route, but unfortunately till someone does a step by step tutorial on setup it up, it's just too deep a rabbit hole to venture down with all the conflicting information available. You know I think there could be a great little side business for someone doing trusted detailed tutorials on all these VR related things with a subscription fee. Not to say the generosity of the vr community is not absolutely amazing with their patience and help, but nobody's time is free. I personally think there's people like myself lacking, to say the least in pc department that would be more than happy to contribute to trusted install guides to things like Openxr. Back to the G2 issue, I do have a return request sent into hp, if approved I'll probable save my pennies and look at the Varjo down the road.
dgiatr Posted June 24, 2022 Posted June 24, 2022 Hello Youtch, i have rtx 3060 ti and i use about 2600×2600 in opexr toolkit(dont remember exactly), 80% fsr upscaler, sharpness to 95%, no ingame sharpness.

Yes indeed i have some shimmering over the ground but i fly mostly high level over the skies not low so i have a more sharp image and better spotting and plane identification over there.
