elawsonjr30 Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 I just finished putting together and organizing the attached sim setup. I figured once this was done, combined with TrackIR, I'd have a perfect setup for flying. I'd be the angel of death. The foremost flying nazi hunter. The most feared airborne predator since the dinosaurs went extinct. Then I loaded up a quick mission to test out just flying and it looks like I'm pressing my face against the front windshield like a puppy on a car ride trying to catch the breeze with my tongue. I've been trying for days to find some configuratio that would work. I found the Triple Screens mod and with the relevant changes to startup.cfg, it seemed like the HUD could be moved to the center so it's visible. Then I found the Extra Zoom mod to back the FOV up enough to have some breathing room. So I'm thinking this might be it. But they don't seem to work together. With the FOV backed up, the HUD is way to small to see. But if I increase or_hud_size to make the HUD big enough to read, all the menus are enormous and most of the buttons aren't readable. It's like I can either have menus that work well enough to get into the game but then I can't play it, or I can have a playable game but menus that are so oversized I can't get into it. I've tried dropping my windows scaling but no change there. I've tried different values for or_hud_size but nothing works. I've tried bribing, cajoling, threatening, and, yes, even begging the game to display correctly. I've googled like a mad man and gotten nowhere. Surely someone has figured out how to get triple screens to work reasonably well? Help me please?

I think it's mainly a mod to fix bomb sights and loading screens, but the post including the trick to change 3dhud to 1 and set or_hud_size to 0.35 or lower. But it seems that the HUD size doesn't scale with FOV changes, and the HUD size is also tied to menu size, which is an...interesting design choice.

But it will let you relocate the hud to the center monitor? Including the maps?

I don't think that mod even does it, the more I'm experimenting. In startup.cfg if you set 3dhud = 1 it apparently changes the HUD from fixed on screen(s) to following your view, and or_hud_size tells it how big of a HUD to make. I've been experimenting all morning so I may have more to report soon-ish.
elawsonjr30 Posted June 19, 2022 Author Posted June 19, 2022 I...think I did it. In startup.cfg, I set 3dhud = 1 and or_hud_size = 0.85000 Then in graphics/scene/ I opened hanger.txt and main.txt and set the FOV in each to 150. Then in graphics/ I opened scene.ini and scene_hanger.ini and set the FOV in each of those to 150. And now, somehow, the menus fit on the middle screen, the hanger view when the game opens is zoomed out so I can see the plane there, and in-game the HUD is big enough to use in 150 FOV. In planes I have to zoom out to get to 150, but I can just F10 to save that in each plane.

My HOTAS has an axis I've tied my zoom function to so I can zoom in and out at will from the gun sight, but this combined with your suggestions should make everything work great.

I can find the startup.cfg files, but i dont have any folder "scene" or scene.ini files. So i cant change the fov start menu and its unplayable. Regret triple screen user are completely forgotten 1
