WEP engine timers are shorter than the 5 minutes stated in the in-game manual for the Spitfire Vb and IX.

WEP should last for 5 minutes, but the in-game message for the timer being used up in technochat pops up at 3 minutes for the Spit Vb running at 3000 RPM / +16 boost, and running it lower then the +16 the manual states still only gets you 4 minutes if you run it unboosted at 3000 RPM / +12 boost. On the Spit IX the timer runs out at 6 minutes at 3000 RPM / +18 for 100 octane, and 4 minutes with 150 octane at 3000 RPM / +25. I tested by speeding up time to x8 and watching the in-game clock inside the cockpit. The Spit XIV WEP timers are fine and run for 5 mins at max RPM/throttle with both octanes.

I did some tests (Kuban, Autunm, 1500m) and for the Spit Mk IX with WEP at 3000rpm/18lbs no modifications, I do get the exceeded warning after 6min

and the engine damage and/or failure a bit more random after 9-11min

I did not use the planes watch but my own, and I did not speed the game up, so real time test.

I've seen the Vb and 150 octane IX engine die before 5 minutes has passed, so I know it's not just a message error, the actual engine timer is wrong as well.

i just check again and timer runs out after 4min

EDIT:

300m kuban autumn test:

Spit Vb both engines boost on, spec say wep is 3 min test shows 3 min

Spit9  both engines, spec say wep is 5 min test shows 6 min

Spit9 25 lbs, spec say wep is 5 min test shows 4 min

so things are wrong by 1 min up or down, only other spit, mkIV is corectly 5min like spec say.

Did you hit the boost button in the Vb? It's 4 minutes if you don't boost it at +12. I just looked at the in-game spec sheet, it does say 3 minutes for the Vb, but I was looking in 1C's forum post here where it says 5 minutes: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/25993-aircraft-flight-and-technical-specifications-and-operational-details/

A manual I found shows it should last 5 minutes as well, so I don't know why 1C would have it as 3 minutes in-game.

5 min Vb.png

Yes first time i test vb was with 12lbs so thats why i got 4min insted 3, later i retested with 16lbs and got 3min like spec say.

Wy they decided 3 insted 5 i dont know, maybe because it come with kuban and soviets used 3min limit.

But atleast 5min should be 5 min on 9s if they say it is 5 in spec
