beli0135 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 I was unpleasently surprised with price of aircrafts. $20 for a type? I was expecting 2.99.. tops 4.99... $20? Really? "If you do not like it, go somewhere else", well, ok. I get it.
R33GZ Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Yeah. It can be tough, especially for those of us who don't earn money anywhere near equivalent to USD. Don't be disheartened though. There are regular sales on where you will get up to 75% off. I recently bought P40 and Yak 1B for About $10 total 3
Lloydy Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 often they have 75% off the entire expansion packs, for example.. battle of Kuban, battle of Stalingrad etc. You get a bunch of planes in them, only the collector planes are not included. This is a niche game in a niche genre of games so i guess for the company to survive they must charge those prices coz many die hard ww2 flight sim fans are fine with paying it. 2
Skycat1969 Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 Flight simming is an expensive hobby. In a certain context the IL-2 Great Battles series is a tremendous value even without a 50%-85% off sale. Compare as examples the IL-2 Collector Plane Spitfire Mk.Vb ($19.99) to Spitfires marketed to other flight sim platforms: FSX Spitfire Mk V -- $19.99 (usual price $29.99) MSFS Spitfire Mk 1A -- $32.95 MSFS Spitfire Mk IX -- $35.00 X-Plane 11 Spitfire Mk IX -- $34.95 Prepar3D Spitfire Mk I and II -- $49.99 to $99.00 DCS Spitfire Mk IX -- $49.99 We could argue all day which (if any) addon aircraft for any platform is worth the developer's asking price but at the end of the day none of the Collector Planes for Great Battles are required to play the core game. 5
kozmo514 Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 Don't even think about getting in to DCS, my friend! 1
R33GZ Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 Lol. Be nice. It can be a bit daunting for a first timer especially when 40USD = 80Local dollars ?
Jason_Williams Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 And that's why we put stuff on sale with generous discounts. Thread closed. Jason 1 4
