AKA_PumpkiCraterman1 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 I can free look just fine and zoom in and out, but I cannot figure out how to lean my head right or left or position it up or down. I searched and saw some posts already but didn't find any good solutions. I see the hold to offset option and I did bind a key, but can't get anything to work.
Josp Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 Hi Crateman, do you use a keyboard or mouse to look around? If yes, I'm afraid it's not possible. You need some head tracking device for these further degrees of freedom. Josef
AKA_PumpkiCraterman1 Posted June 17, 2022 Author Posted June 17, 2022 I use a ball mouse to free look around. Any idea what the hold to offset is for? Seems like this should be possible with a flight sim.
Josp Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 I'm not sure which command you mean. I guess it may be something for external views. What you want is possible. I think you can do this in the Great Battles series or in Rise of Flight for example. I believe it could be added to Cliffs of Dover too. Unfortunately, it's not there. Cliffs of Dover is based on an older engine from 2011. Features that are standard now were not common at that time. I recommend trying one of those head tracking systems. It's really much better and more natural than using a mouse. And it will free your hand for other things. Josef
zzzxxxxzzz Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 I think you can do it holding down right mouse button and while you move it, at least that's how it was before
AKA_PumpkiCraterman1 Posted June 17, 2022 Author Posted June 17, 2022 I think it may be possible to add, but you're right, it's not there. I have tried tracker but prefer the mouse ball. Maybe a combo of both will work. I will continue to test it. I'm not a programmer, but it seems that it would be very easy to implement. Like you said, BOX makes it pretty easy.
OBT-Mikmak Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 Hold down right mouse button and move the mouse allow to lean left/right and front/back.
AKA_PumpkiCraterman1 Posted June 18, 2022 Author Posted June 18, 2022 Well, if that works for you, I've messed up my bindings. Any idea what bindings makes that happen?
Sokol1 Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 Look in Controls > Camera > Hold to Zoom FOV for what mouse button are assigned, if none assign one and try. Hold that button and slide mouse right/left, back and forth is a bit stuck. The command Hold to OfSet FOV - that seems the correct control, don't work, their name is wrong, is exchanged to Hold to Zoom FOV. Hold to Zoom FOV (labeled as Hold to OfSet FOV) have no practical use, as zoom only inside cockpit. I make this "Lean right/left" with joystick POV HAT and Joy to Key https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BJd4mIvHK4 https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23565&p=244993&viewfull=1#post244993
AKA_PumpkiCraterman1 Posted June 21, 2022 Author Posted June 21, 2022 Thanks guys! Sokol1 I will take some time and see if I can figure that out.
