custom skins disapear way to soon now.

Here you can see BF110 with default skins on the right side and our squadron skins on the left side:

After some tests i found the Problem which leads to the effect you can see in the posted Video above.

Those planes which dissapaer in the distance (without zoomed in) use custom skins with 6 Mipmaps. The orher planes on the right using standart inagme skins (which i dont know the Mipmap ammount).

Since 2 or 3 patches ago this Problem with our custom skins disappearing in the distance was noticed (before that there was no problem with our Skins).

Therefore the Devs increased  2 or 3 patches ago the LoD ammount which also used therefore more Mipmaps than before.

 

If your custom Skins got the same Problem, the solution is to save the same Skin with more Mimaps and you should be good.

 

Because we dont know how much Mipmaps we need, i did some testing.

All Testskins i made are with option Mipmap setting value "ALL" done. So the max. ammount of mipmaps are created.

 

Gimp generates max. 10 Mipmaps

Photoshop with Nvidia dds Plugin generates max. 10 Mipmaps

Nvidia standalone tool generates max. 12 Mipmaps.

 

So, if your make a Skin.dds you should at least use 10 Mipmaps to be safe.

 

It would be nice if a Dev could tell us how much Mipmaps the Game is using.
