JonRedcorn Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 Been away for almost 2 years or maybe more, I dunno, have we gotten AI that can compete with the classic yet? There was a reason I enjoyed the old game so much for single player adventures. Need to get my pilot setup back online I am just so lazy these days. Really need to check out the new aircraft from Bon. How's everyone been?
oFlyingDutchman Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 I've to start saying that i havent played 1946 That being said, 109's still try to turn fight in circles, P47's doesnt seems to match a real pilot by a long shot And i havent really seen any AI trying to conserve energy or anything That being said, PWCG carrer is quite fun, as well as the one that the game gives I has a lot of room to improve, but is still fun

As for P47's. We need to remember they where largely flown by well trained and highly skilled pilots heavily outnumbering enemy pilots largely inexperienced and poorly trained. If you want a realistic fight against P47's or P38's fly your 109 or 190 outnumbered like you only learnt to fly 2 weeks ago. Answering the OP. I didn't fly 1946 but I do find the ai generally believable now bearing in mind I have far more hours of experience than my better half would like!
Q_Walker Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Dogfighting has definitely improved. AI comms is really needing an overhaul though to get close to 1946.
R33GZ Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 I would say '46 is still better in terms of a flight leads ability to give orders to ai. It can be quite hard to order your wingmen to attack the correct ground/air targets.... Sometimes they just don't do it at all. The only caveat I would put on that is my only referrence is moded 46 - it would be at least a decade since I flew vanilla 46. The combat techniques of the ai are comparable in my opinion 1

The Luftwaffe was severely damaged and turned into unskilled with these rubbish planes, by pilots who's training was on par but combat experience far less than theirs, and it happened before all those overwhelming numbers appeared and finished them off in late 44-45.
