DD_Crash Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 Hi, I have a 5GHz 8086K, RTX 3090 and 32Gig DDR4 memory. After a while I get USB disconnect/reconnect noises, the performance drops, bad stutters and the sound distorts and then goes off. This happens with Il-2 and Elite. I am on Win10 latest update and it doesnt happen on flatscreen. Has anyone any idea how to fix this?
[CPT]Crunch Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 More than likely your USB ports are cutting out in windows power saving mode. Start by going to control panel, select power options, make sure it's on high performance. Than go to device manager and set each USB controller so its power management property allowing it to turn off that device to save power is unchecked. 1
firdimigdi Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 The obvious I guess: is it plugged in to an unpowered USB hub by any chance? Are the USB ports perhaps set to allow the computer to turn them off to "reduce power consumption"?
dburne Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 Windows 11 had an update yesterday that gave me some grief, had to go in and once again uncheck all the power savings on all my USB devices in device manager. I hate how Windows updates randomly enable those power saving settings on some USB devices. Pain in the rear.
DD_Crash Posted June 15, 2022 Author Posted June 15, 2022 I have just checked and the power management is turned off
DD_Crash Posted June 17, 2022 Author Posted June 17, 2022 I have tried changing the USB port and so far it works. 2
