Thorne Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 (edited) Hi all - I'm building a more complete sim-pit out of wood and am considering going from 1 to 3 (or more) transducers. I've got a 'gaming' motherboard (ROG Crosshair VII), which comes standard with the ability to output surround sound to a 5.1 or 7.1 configuration through 5 separate 3.5mm outputs on the back of the case. My question is, if I choose 5.1 output configuration from the Simshaker software, and choose the motherboard sound device as the output, will it then use those separate 3.5 mm jacks on the back of the mobo to send the respective surround signals? If this is the case I can just get two or three small amps for my additional shakers and get good surround. This beats using optical out for a big surround receiver unit which would then feed the shakers given the cost and space savings. If anyone is using this config let me know. Logikal Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 I'm just getting in to flight but I do have a sim rig, I do exactly what you are thinking with simhub software to drive 8 bass shakers using 3 amps. I cannot comment on how it works for Simshaker, but I set the soundcard output to 7.1 channels and they all work. 1
c19580 Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 I’m interested in understanding more detail of how this works. my motherboard also has 7.1 audio and a bunch of outputs on the back. can I use my motherboard audio to separate the signals as follows: - 1 output to speakers for regular sound - 1 output to amp for left/right bass shakers under seat - 1 output to amp for flight stick shaker thanks
