Thought I'd start a cumulative thread with my videos instead of opening a seperate thread for every new video.

So here goes:

Taking the Bf109F-1 out for a ride

Back and forth action on red and blue sides on TWC Campaign Server

Some fun in the good old Hurricane

Two questions:

1) Do you use track IR for your views?

2) You have your gunsight centered, how do I do that for the 109?  Mine is off to the side...

Thanks in advance.

Shift+F1 is the default center gunsight command. It is called lean to gunsight in the menu and will „focus“ your view through the sight.

1) Yes, I use TrackIR.

2) As J-Hat said. Also using a headtracker you can just lean into the gunsight.

You are a very nice guy, my first round in CLOD multiplayer, made a mistake (yes, I didn't realize that you belong to my faction), and not only that you kill me instead of offering help to get into the game.

KARAYA is a nice guy. Hes helped many many people over the years and contunies to do so. Couple of things. First is your own spotting skills - its not an easy thing to differentiate a macchi from a hurri at first but there are key differences that you will become familar with. Second it wasnt really a burst and realise moment was it? The twisting and trailing should have given you enough sight of the macchi to realise what is was with some more experience - as it was you attempted to get a solution for a good number of seconds with perhaps a touch of the red mist. KARAYA slotted you- had he not you would have contuinued to try and slot him. Its fairly standard fare.

How was he expected to offer to help btw?  Fly stright and level and risk you taking another shot - you have a cannon - no one would do that.

Finally he hasnt made a video to insult you.  KARAYA has made videos for years that show the interesting parts of long missions - good and bad. I dare say that had you not raised  it noone would have  known, remebered or cared it was you in the first place.

Early ventures into the MP are always messy - you are effectively the innocent facing players with more hours in the game than the entrire luftwaffe had in the war. You make mistakes whilst others appear to not take ito account your experience of lack thereof. You may also come across groups flying with limited time available and a set objective who do not want to risk their session unnecessarily. From experience most of those will stick to thier own coms ( general channels can get saturated even with one gobby player) but thats the way it is. Use chat and ask if you can join up perhaps (dont be offended if the answer is no though).

From experience, if you do your bit, be freindly and learn from mistakes, you wont feel like a fish out of water for long.

As you say yourself, it is not easy to differentiate, especially at the beginning. In the end, I broke off and went into a defensive position (the fact that I screwed up the controls is another topic) and was no more danger for him (and that was no mistake by me). It's not even that he got his revenge (although I would have expected more from an old hand here but I can deal with it). It's about how he says it in the video.

It would have been helpful to say: Hey 109 it seems you have no orientation yet, lets meet a airfield XY. Then you can catch up with the formation... (just an example). Even after he got his revenge, even that would be an offer I probably would have accepted.

I never said he made a video to insult me, just that he did it in the video.

And yes, I brought it up because I was asked about it by a third person. Apparently there are too few with my name in this forum.

But maybe it's just because I deal with the mistakes of others differently and therefore have a different perspective on something like that. When someone seems lost in games I'm playing, my first approach is always to ask if I can help, it improves both of our gaming experiences.

I never judge my teammates for mistakes, call them cunts or what ever.

So you really want to blame me for saying something (like I said, this is a small community)

Im not blaming you at all. Your explanation raises fair points.

Ive done some pretty stupid things myself and, in a small community it stings when someone points it out. If ive made an error Im on chat apologising- sometimes its accepted- sometimes not. Karaya can defend himself no doubt but friendly fire has been a recurring theme since the days when it was almost guaranteed if you flew a G50. After a while it becomes a real bugbear especially in the now rare "big nights" where the very nature of the beast means a wide mix of experience is present. If you take a different approach to new players then all power to you.

As you say Karaya could have sent you a message - you could also have sent a chat message prior to opening up on him if there were ID doubts. I think perhaps also theres a need to accept that not everyone wants to spend their limited time constantly coaching newcomers. Ive done my share - most disappear within a few sessions - many dont listen - a few are complete timewasters. Omly a small minority turn out to be worth the time invested TBH.

As for the language used and attitude - its a competative server. Passions are high. Not my place to defend it and I fully understand as I think I would feel the same if I were the subject but equally I may have said something along the same lines in the heat of the moment though not necessarily commited it to video.

I will say this though - you took the plunge into MP. Anyone who plays MP should be grateful to you for that. Empty servers are no fun. I sincerely hope you dont let this experience put you off. MP is a place where somone is always pissed at someone but the good far outweighs the negative.

Should I ever be able to return to simming, Id gladly wing up with you (and probably shoot up the wrong guy).

@Jack_Daniels1983, I was flying with Karaya that evening. I saw what happened, I also saw that after you were hit, instead of landing (you were near the German base) you preferred to strafe the base and hit an aircraft parked (german) there.

Let's put it this way: maybe you drank too much Jack Daniels that night ?

Really, no idea, will have had my reasons. Maybe it was also due to the great motivation for newcomers that I experienced. (Which you were also a part of...).

I would have put it aside, but not like this. So I say what I think on the subject. And even then I remain polite and don't offend anyone.

But I notice that my first impression was indeed correct. BOO almost changed my mind. Enjoy the game...

And by the way: never drink and drive, smoke and fly ?

First off, the video is not meant as a personal attack on you Jack. You just happened to be pretty much the very first encounter for me that night. I had just taken off, was flying north towards the coast to gain altitude when gunfire went past my canopy.

Mistakes happen, we've all shot at friendlies at one point or another but as BOO already pointed out it didnt end with that first burst. You were saddled in on my six and hellbent on shooting me down. Whatever happened to the approach of making sure what it is you are about to shoot? Seems like too many people have a "shoot first, ask questions later" kind of mentality and that is what is shown in the video. And as Hellrider added you also went ahead and strafed the nearest axis airfield.

Btw you were not the only guy in the video shown going for fratricide. At around the 20:30 mark Hellrider got clobbered by a Bf109F with gunpods.

As for reaching out and lending a hand then and there. I'm sorry but I have 2 small kids at home demanding most of my energy and I'm lucky to get 2 hours of me time in on evenings when I'm already exhausted. Not going to spend that taking someone by the hand. If you need help or advice getting started you are free to join my Discord and ask all kinds of questions, people there are generally very helpful.

Since my first fly on a multiplayer server, Karaya has always teach me how to die gracefully (well, not always...)
I remember the first time when he shredded my cockpit and blew my skull.  ?

Karaya taught me how to die quickly and repeatedly ? - now sure there was much grace in it though. Anyone wanting to improve though can learn a lot from the videos about deflection and spotting especially as a visual or sight learner.
