Do the graduations in the commander's binoculars have any use?

Can we measure distances with?

Yes, you can measure distance with the binoculars. However, you'll need to know the size of your target to be somewhat accurate. Please, anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but the binoculars shown above use a 5mil graduation between each tick.

Well, the numbers in the binoculars are there for a reason. 10 means 10 mils (in German: Strich)

Commander can already calculate the distance to the next target while the gunner is busy with the previous one, possibly speeding up the engagement. So yes, can be useful.

The more precisely the dimensions of the target are known, the more accurate the distance determination will be. This is another reason why, before the spread of laser rangefinders, it was difficult to hit tanks in shelters - not only are they covered by shelter, but it is difficult to determine the distance to them with optical instruments.
