When I play online I miss something:

I find training servers or  dogfight servers  !

in the dogfight server someone can always find a nice furbal   and  it is nice  ...     BUT    ... we don`t need all thes nice Bombers and twomot fighters etc. in the game if every body plays only Tempests and FW-190s ?

Flying a Ju-88C, Mosquito, P-47 or Bf-110 in such a furbal is pointless.

I can remember the old Il-2 1946  times  servers like Cocconut-server  and others .    Fighter and Bomber-pilots could find fun on these servers.

I really hope with the Normandy/Channel map  somebody will create Online-Missions like in the old times !!

Cheers

While I agree we need more dedicated ground targets and in greater densities, don't fly the above mentioned AC into a furball.

It is, however, great fun sneaking around a server at low level, striking your target, and getting back out undetected. Conversely, you can call for an escort and occasionally some fighter jock(s) will help out for a mid level mission. Lastly, climb up to seven or eight thousand meters for several minutes in a rear friendly area before bombing from high level. On DF servers you are not likely to get shot down by AAA or all those fighter dudes mixing it up down on the deck from those altitudes. We see it all the time from dedicated mud movers. Have patience and fly unconventional/roundabout routes.

I would love to see a dedicated server which has tailor made and/or historical AC sets but I'm not sure there is enough of a community for that yet. Some of the full real servers are close but the DF servers are generally All Aircraft sets. Twins vs Twins is a rarity and will be for a while.

On 3 popular DF ww2 servers, VP, CB and WoL you have ppl flying other airplanes like bombers and ground attackers and some crazy ppl take even P-47s, Masquito is most flow airplane last few days... its comon thing there to get shot down by twin engined thing if you dont pay atention.

On berloga type df server you aint gona see bombers as its for practice/training DF.

I'm not so sure about that.  On the FVP server, there are pilots who will still use the 'non-common' planes that are available.  I got a couple of nice kills in a Yak-1 ser.69 yesterday.  It was plane set #6 (mostly late-mid and late war models)

Then don't.  I mean YES fly those planes but, avoid or don't get into prolonged furballs.  Better yet, engage in low(er) G running fights or surprise attacks.   Using Sopwith Camel / Fokker Dr.1 turning tactics in planes designed to cruise at 350 to 400 MPH (not KPH) is and easy way to run out of energy and get wrecked - Especially considering that 109s historically are favored in the low energy turn and burn scenario and for most of the war were the boom and zoom kings.

Unless it's too close to avoid, not everybody "furballs" or concentrates around the "punchbowl of doom".  Alot of the top scoring pilots don't ever have to worry about getting their pilot tired or blacking out.  That's not because of G-suits or G-seats.  It's because they are able to pick their fights and pick the maneuvers that most promote "minimum effort, maximum gain".   Furballing at the front usually comes down to who has the most friends, planes that still perform better than the other guy under low-E conditions or pilots with high energy exploiting the situation by hit-and-running the low energy, distracted enemy.

I fly fighter cap for my mud mover buddies on Advance and Secure all the time, and I generally take off heavy and find some place to leave my bombs before going up to CAP.

110s, IL2's, Stukas, Mossies and A-20s are all commonly seen and effective.

Even saw someone wreaking havoc on strafing runs with a 262 once.
