Hi, creative editing is the answer.  My PC is 12 years old and running an old i5 2320 and DDR3 RAM, so can barely run anything modern.  I've always been quite surprised at how well it manages Il-2 to be honest. 

 

The footage in this was mostly recorded in the Me-262 mission 'bomber hunt'.  There is a lot that I recorded which had to be cut due to issues such as lag, most common being sound distortion which you do hear a couple of times in the video.  Thankfully it wasn't too bad to make the clips unusable.  A couple of the shots had the replay speed increased by 10% in editing, due to looking noticeably slower in parts, but that wasn't common.
