chiliwili69 Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Guys, In the last 10 years I have been desperately looking for small and light phones but with a good camera. It is incredible but every year they are larger and heavier, so people can play more games, watch more movies and do more. That´s ok but the problem is that there is almost no sub-6" and sub-150 grm with good camera available. The only ones that remain there are the Iphones (SE, 12mini, 13 mini) which are compact, not heavy and with good camera. I only want a personal phone to make calls, some sms or emails, and take good pictures or videos. If you want more market offer in Android sign up here: https://smallandroidphone.com/
DD_Arthur Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Yes, I refuse to carry a roof tile around in my pocket. iphone 5s. I love it. It’s indestructible. 1
Mtnbiker1998 Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Personally I'm an Android user til I die, so I get it. but if all you need is call, text, pictures, and a small form factor, why not get the iphone? It doesn't sound like you really need some of the deeper stuff Android excels at
Cynic_Al Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 I'm sure the future will bring lightweight, unobtrusive devices you'll barely notice you're holding: 2
cardboard_killer Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 I'm not biased in any way against the size of the cell phone. I hate them all. 5

Absolutely. something like the iphone 5s from 2013 in terms of size, weight, camera is what I am looking for, but in Android if possible. This is the table I have tracking along the years and the iphone 5s is almost identical to the first iphone SE (2016) but 3 year newer and better camera, marked in red below: My current phone is a Cubot KingKong mini2 which is quite ok but a bit bulky and the camera is not great. All my previous personal phones are marked in orange (in blue the phones for work). I had the Palm before and the size was superb and the camera quite OK, but the 800mAh battery a bit small. From all phones I had the Samsung Galaxy Alpha was absolutely perfect. Basically want I want is an iphone SE from 2016 but in Android. Why Android? well I am a bit against closed gardens. This is a picture taken with the Cubot KingKong mini2, it is OK but the iphones has much better cameras. You will need to have a full continental breakfast every morning to carry it along the day, lol. But it has superb camera instead. Edited June 11, 2022 by chiliwili69
reddog=11blueleader* Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Don't like big heavy phones at all. I have an iphone 7 and it is just right size for me. I've had it since new and not had a minutes problem with it. Like the old Timex watch commercial saying" It Takes a Licking and keeps on ticking" !

But yes, to your last point, the camera was a big selling point for me - I don't want a phone that has a lousy camera, and the Pixel's camera and associated software features are arguably unbeatable. Jaws2002 Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 (edited) I have a Galaxy Note 10. It has a strong antenna and works pretty much anywhere. It's pretty big, because my eyes are not as good as they used to be. I use the maps a lot, so the size does help a bit. Edited June 12, 2022 by Jaws2002

And for this very reason I wonder why other manufacturers stick to the brick-size. It's something like if car manufacturers were only producing SUVs, no compacts.
NETSCAPE Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 If you want good pictures buy a real camera with a big aperture. I rock a flip phone. It's a phone, for doing phone stuff.

cardboard_killer Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 My one handed typing speed dates from that time.
NETSCAPE Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 "do you hate large and heavy smartphones?" honestly though, I just really hate anything that has a touch interface.
Trooper117 Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 "do you hate large and heavy smartphones?" No, hopefully as time goes on we will all be carrying something as big as a British Army Clansman radio set... then you will really have something to moan about!
