Can someone confirm that I'll need to buy Normandy before I progress to boddenplatte in career mode?

I had had a quick look for anything similar being posted, I know it's probably a stupid question as operation boddenplatte was 1945 I believe, but I don't want to progress all that way without being killed (he says hopefully) and skip Normandy because I bought it after.

You can start a career at any point - even within a module there are multiple starting points.

you don’t need any other module to start a career.

If you want to continue a career after finishing one module you can do so with any module that starts at a later point.

If you finish a German Moscow career the same pilot can then continue with any module. If you finish a Bodenplatte career that same pilot can‘t continue any other as all other careers start at an earlier point.

As of now there is no Normandy campaign. The Bodenplatte career actually starts in Autumn 1944 so there is plenty of meat there for RAF and USAAF pilots.

I've maintained a Luftwaffe fighter career starting in Moscow continued to Stalingrad and now in Kuban. My war-weary pilot is eager for a posting to a quiet sector on the coast of France where he can sip champagne, dance with pretty mademoiselles and recuperate in peace...

OK so no campaign yet , is there a map installed yet or is that missing too? sorry that sounds worse than I intended it to.

I just spent $150 AUD on this and cant see what actually is accessible.

BoN is still in early access, and map was always one of the last thing added in game, and they cant add campaign without map so that is done after map.

So at some point this summer you should be able to get BoN map if things dont change.

Hmm ok that sounds like it should be true but I've started several different careers and they all start from Stalingrad I've seen no way to change that.. unless I've missed something (I also read on here that once you are in command of a unit u can change way points and stuff and I can't seem to see a way to do that either, only aircraft outfitting and skins) I don't know if it's because Stalingrad was bought through steam and BoM, BoK, BoBp were bought through IL2 store.

When you start a career you choose the campaign first. Moscow, Stalingrad, Kuban, and Rhineland (Bodenplatte) are all listed at present if you own all of these.

It sounds like your Steam and IL-2 accounts are not linked. Help guide here: https://il2sturmovik.com/m/SteamAndIL2AccountGuide.pdf

Also, when you're squad leader you get to adjust the aircraft and armament. You don't get to change the waypoints.

Sounds like a little Lili Marlene and a walk down the Champs-élysées is exactly what Ur war weary pilot needs.

I'll go ahead and get the Tobruk add on to my cliffs of Dover blitz then until Normandy becomes single player friendly.

How did you start at Moscow? I've started several careers and I can't find any way of doing that outside of quick mission.

They must be linked, all four BoS/BoM/BoK/BoBp all show up there all listed in the top right corner when I start the game, and all are playable in quick mission.. I'll have to have another look..

Yeah that's what I thought I actually created a full set of III.jg3 skins so that when I fly all the aircraft are numbered and carrying our units markings, I think it may of been on Reddit I see about the waypoints but they were old posts. ?

Here's what it looks like when you enter Career mode either for the first time or when you go to create a new pilot.

Erm yeah something's not right with mine then, but I have some of the collector planes bought through steam I play in career mode so I don't know what's going on ? I'll have to go in and re check the link with steam although the Stalingrad map is on sale right now I might just buy it again through IL store and cut steam out altogether as I said i have all the other maps through IL store.. It also means I should of started my career in Moscow which I've probably skipped now ?

Anyone know if I buy Stalingrad again through IL2 store this time, will the current Stalingrad career started through steam version still show? If that makes sense..

Edited..

Ok I am now getting the same as you all four maps I don't why my last few (or first few) careers started automatically on Stalingrad but I'm sure it was an issue with steam as I'm currently getting "Not Responding" more than I'd like when starting Stalingrad via Steam!

I'm gonna buy the Stalingrad map on sale and cut out steam altogether I want the two planes with premium anyway.

You can change the waypoints as squadron leader, when you go to the Headquarters map, click on the target point of your mission, now your flight path will show up and you can draw the waypoints (only waypoints 2 and 4 of course).

Really. I did not know that!

As a bonus here -- you generally spawn in (well, in air start) ~10km from point 2. So if you don't have time to fly ~100km to target... set point 2 close to target :).

Makes any career from far off airfields much more fun ^^

You can also alter the height - some times you have too

Two times on 110 careers in moscow I airspawned in trees because I didn't.

The bad weather missions, I guess, which were in heavy rain before the new clouds update. They have a very low mission altitude, however there is something going wrong if you spawn that low.

For me it is more the flight route, which sometimes doesn't make any sense, especially in Traffic Interdiction missions, which would be nice, if you could customize it, even when not squadron leader. But the question is, will the mission then work, as it is planned to do.

This happens only if I move the waypoint without editing the height :)

Yes, but in the other missions the altitude is 1500m, so you should definitely be safe. Only the bad weather missions have a mission altitude of under 500m, minus 150 or so meters of ground altitude, and you are about 200-250m above ground, which might end not too good.
