Z_is_dead Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Hi all, My Hotas Warthog Stick stops working with the bad smell of burning plastic. I've disassembled the base and found the controller with burn damage (on photo). Maybe somebody knows specification of burned element if it can be repaired at all. I've wrote to the Thrustmaster support but didn't received response yet. Also I consider to install MMjoy controller to replace broken one, but it cannot use original Warthog 3D sensor and it will be very hard for me now to search the new sensors now.
DD_Crash Posted June 2, 2022 Posted June 2, 2022 I would ask here https://forum.dcs.world/forum/336-thrustmaster/

Dusty_Steppes Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 Without having an overall schematic of the warthog stick to determine what else may have been damaged, it appears as if the red wire has been scorched. Possibly caused by it being pinched and shorting against something, which caused excessive current flow to blow fuse FB9.
Hoss Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 Fried that resistor, surprised it did not unsolder itself. They are easy to find if you knew the P/N for it, and easy to replace. I would just get a new card and switch it out.
Sokol1 Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 You can buy a replacement board from Thrustmaster, years back used cost ~38 EUROS (plus shipping). It seems that sometimes you get answered by an unqualified person who prefers to use "no" as an answer. Or use a 3rd party "repair service" from eBay. Replace the board with DIY project is viable, but will be very laborious.
Stonehouse Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 I had a board in my throttle die. I got a replacement part sent to me from Thrustmaster (France to Australia) - they did take a little while to initially respond due to time zone differences and usual helpdesk queues but it was resolved very quickly once it got started. I can't remember the price but the board install was definitely something I was able to manage by myself - there are how to guides on the thrustmaster website plus numerous on the net from other Warthog users. It was the throttle however not the stick so maybe that's easier.
