Black screen after using escape

Hey guys , hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend,Ive had this issue for a few weeks and this is how it happens,ill be playing a mission, I'm a single player guy and ill be flying around , it can be combat, it can be ground pounding , anything  and ill be thinking "you know i need to change the key that does that or  something like " i cant remember what key i use for that or this " and i will escape for a moment to lets say my key bindings and once i come back my screen will go black, you can hear the sounds,the air planes everything but the screen will be black,the only option i have found is to press alt and tab and go to desktop and kill the game.

 

Something this really sucks because it will be a great mission and i would like to finish it but once that black screen comes on its game over at that point, i have a Radeon 580,is this happening because of my card or is it something else? i guess the solution is not to escape for a second and just see the mission to its finish but thats a bandaid, any ideas? i searched for this but the main things i got was the game not starting and getting a black screen and things like that but not like the issue i have, my game starts just fine,thank you for your time.
