SCG_SchleiferGER Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 I would like to discuss the issue fo the Panzer IV Ausf. G being way to fast for what it should be able to do. Ingame it is able to reach 48,5 kph, presumably at about 3200 rpm, since this is the max rpm allowed for only short durations of time. In the Internet most of the sources state that the Panzer IV family should be able to reach a spead of about 42 to 38 kph. Since this cold be bogus, I did some calculations: Gear ratio 6th gear: 1:1 From there to the steering system: 1:1,05 Planetary gearbox for steering: 1:1,43 Final drives: 1:3,23 Diameter of sprocket wheel: 726 cm With these inputs I got the following speeds: RPM KPH 2000 27,00 2250 30,38 2500 33,75 2750 37,13 3000 40,50 3200 43,20 3500 47,25 3600 48,60 3750 50,63 I did the same vor the reverse gear and found similar results. To acually reach the speeds that are shown ingame you would ned to rev to about 3600 also. So in conclusion one needs to overrev the engine by about 400 rpm over the max rpm to get to the speed we currently have in game. Gear ratios were taken from "Panzer IV und seine Abarten" by Walter J. Spielberger, Hilary Louis Doyle and Tom Jentz (ISBN 978-3-613-03231-6) Max rpm for the HL120TRM was taken from "Der Panzerjäger Ferdinand (Panzerjäger Tiger (P), Porsche Typ 131) by Michael Fröhlich (ISBN 978-3-613-04273-5) Sadly I cannot provide a correct speed, since I do not know If the Pz. IV's engine actually has the HP reach those high rpm numbers. 2
E69_geramos109 Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 Yes and in slope you can get cracy speeds hehe. Is quite funny
