Jason_Williams Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Quote 318 Dear Pilots! In today’s DD we have three new things to show you. First, we have some screenshots of our Normandy Map which is coming together nicely. It’s looking very scenic! Second, we have developed the technology to launch a V-1 “Buzz Bomb” from fixed installations. They will make great targets for mission designers. And finally, we have been working on the technology necessary to portray amphibious landings which is necessary for Normandy. Normandy Landscape Below are screens from the new map. As you can see there are some rather large cities and towns as well as a variety of different airfield types. The landscape is also very beautiful. Together it will make a very interesting and fun map to fly over. Full Text and Visuals HERE. Jason 17 8 1 7

Thad Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Salutations, The map looks very good. Infantry? I knew you guys had it in you. Well done. 2 6
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Nice. I hope the little soldiers do not disappear instantly after being killed. 2
Jade_Monkey Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 WOW!! This is what I've been waiting for for so long, it did not disappoint. Maps are looking great and it's really good to hear the new mechanics for the V1 are built. Nice little surprise there with the infantry landings, it will help a lot with immersion and it will be extra helpful for those who like making cinematic videos. 3 6
[F.Circus]MoerasGrizzly Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Is stuff like the V1 launch sites going to get added to the Rheinland map as well? My grandmother in Antwerp has some stories about being bombed by V1s after the allies conquered the place, wanna take some virtual revenge (Please also add some missing dutch towns in) 1
R3animate Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 I'm shocked by the level of detail on the Normandy map -- this looks fantastic, great work. Infantry and V1 sites are going to be great additions.
Halon Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Love the fact the landings will be in, I knew you guys wouldn't be satisfied with skipping the big day.
150_GIAP-Red_Dragon Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Great! What about the mosquito? p s the screenshots are really impressive
Donik Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Map is looking fantastic, can't wait to fly over it! Since we're on the map topic, I'm keeping my fingers crossed the city rendering issue doesn't rear its ugly head here like it does on BP and Arras... 1
354thFG_Panda_ Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 (edited) The map looks great, very dense. Whoever worked on it did a good job!!! Edited May 27, 2022 by theRedPanda 2
[VCB]Telf_UK Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Looks amazing. Kudos to the team! Extremely excited for Normandy ?
No105_Swoose Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Beautiful! Awesome! Incredible! Can't wait for the release of BoN! ? 1
tattywelshie Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Gorgeous map! And the V1 and infantry look fab! I take it there will be Operation crossbow style missions as part of the Normandy career?
YouBet Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Screenshots of the landings are terrific, but shouldn't they be in black and white? And grainy? 1
Irishratticus72 Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Can't wait to strafe that landing beach in my A10c. 1
Rjel Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Pretty amazing DD. I'm looking forward to seeing video of the troops moving up the beach. I was not expecting to see actual landings with this map. You guys kept that pretty close to the vest.
danielprates Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 A first step towards having some element of combined arms in TC. 1 2
ACG_PanzerVI Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Couple of hopes/questions: - Will the INF be restricted to the beach, or can we begin to see them integrated into other combat areas inland, and esp. other maps, like other mission design objects? - Will this technique potentially develop into more people/activity on airfields? Maybe civilians / cars / trucks in cities? Not sure what the system limitations are on realistic but unengaged 'clutter.' - Echo previous question; still on for Q2 release, or are we sliding? 2
352ndOscar Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 INFANTRY!!!!!!!!! UK Airfield’s looking pretty good too……
US103_Baer Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Please tell me we'll get that kind of countryside on the new FC maps. It looks outstanding. Possibly infantry for NML too! Very nice.
Blitzen Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Darn !!! Another week gone by and no new toy to play with...I have to say I'm a bit nonplussed...

[CPT]Crunch Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Told you the map would kick ass, its frighting just looking at the sheer size of those ports, fields, and cities with their facilities and contemplating a solo attack. That world is looking very much alive already just sitting there.
blockheadgreen_ Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Oh wow the map genuinely looks stunning! Looks denser than the Rhineland map? Hope the performance is just as good. Fantastic work guys.

S10JlAbraxis Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 (edited) Normandy map looks fantastic! Love the city and airfield detail and noticed some ships in the harbors, hope we can blow them up. Will there be some farm buildings in rural areas? Would be great if some of the Normandy enhancements could be added to the Rhineland in the future. Just noticed the last Normandy photo does have small farm buildings - looks great. Edited May 27, 2022 by S10JlAbraxis 2
