Dear Pilots!

 

In today’s DD we have three new things to show you. First, we have some screenshots of our Normandy Map which is coming together nicely. It’s looking very scenic! Second, we have developed the technology to launch a V-1 “Buzz Bomb” from fixed installations. They will make great targets for mission designers. And finally, we have been working on the technology necessary to portray amphibious landings which is necessary for Normandy.

 

Normandy Landscape

 

Below are screens from the new map. As you can see there are some rather large cities and towns as well as a variety of different airfield types. The landscape is also very beautiful. Together it will make a very interesting and fun map to fly over.

WOW!!  This is what I've been waiting for for so long, it did not disappoint. Maps are looking great and it's really good to hear the new mechanics for the V1 are built. 

Nice little surprise there with the infantry landings, it will help a lot with immersion and it will be extra helpful for those who like making cinematic videos.

Is stuff like the V1 launch sites going to get added to the Rheinland map as well? My grandmother in Antwerp has some stories about being bombed by V1s after the allies conquered the place, wanna take some virtual revenge

Pretty amazing DD. I'm looking forward to seeing video of the troops moving up the beach. I was not expecting to see actual landings with this map. You guys kept that pretty close to the vest.

A first step towards having some element of combined arms in TC.

Couple of hopes/questions:

- Will the INF be restricted to the beach, or can we begin to see them integrated into other combat areas inland, and esp. other maps, like other mission design objects?

- Will this technique potentially develop into more people/activity on airfields?  Maybe civilians / cars / trucks in cities?  Not sure what the system limitations are on realistic but unengaged 'clutter.'

- Echo previous question; still on for Q2 release, or are we sliding?

Told you the map would kick ass, its frighting just looking at the sheer size of those ports, fields, and cities with their facilities and contemplating a solo attack.  That world is looking very much alive already just sitting there.

Oh wow the map genuinely looks stunning! Looks denser than the Rhineland map? Hope the performance is just as good. Fantastic work guys.

Normandy map looks fantastic!  Love the city and airfield detail and noticed some ships in the harbors, hope we can blow them up.  Will there be some farm buildings in rural areas?  Would be great if some of the Normandy enhancements could be added to the Rhineland in the future.

 

Just noticed the last Normandy photo does have small farm buildings - looks great.
