JG27*PapaFly Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 Great to see another 109 in flight. Nice landing by Steve. I wish them all the best with this tricky bird. 2
SCG_Tzigy Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Yeah the landing was amazing especially on the concrete
Jaws2002 Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 There's something appealing about that classic G6 paint scheme.?
Aurora_Stealth Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 (edited) Steve did really well, its a very tricky bird to takeoff and land with; especially if unfamiliar with its drifty and unforgiving ground handling. And as mentioned, especially on concrete... its ideally designed for 1930's grass airfields which were typical back then... and those tyres have a tendency to compress at an angle and stick against concrete or asphalt due to the angle of the canted gear legs. Until picking up enough speed and momentum and the rudder becoming effective, its like trying to ski with both feet wanting to drift in different directions. Hopefully he can impart his experiences with it onto other pilots over there and build up a pool of trained pilots for it. Would be great to see it on the airshow circuits as there aren't enough of them around. Edited May 29, 2022 by Aurora_Stealth
