Frequent_Flyer Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Hello All, In the middle of making a mission, the ME crashed to desk top. This happened several times consecutively after I reopened the ME and continue working on the mission. However, now I cannot delete the objects, such as bridges ,airfields and the structures that populate town/cities. I do (did) this routinely with these objects that are not in the vicinity of the mission. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ?
DD_Friar Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Buried in the editor folder is a routine to "re-set" the editor, try that perhaps?
Zooropa_Fly Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Have you tried on a new map ? Worst comes to the worst, you could copy everything onto said new map, if it turns out to be workable.

When I highlight it and try to open/run it takes me to Windows apps? What do you mean by "takes me to Windows apps"? Do you mean that you get a message asking if you want to "allow this app to make changes to your device"? Try double clicking ResetEditorSettings it or right click it and choose Run as Administrator. If you get the "allow this app..." message, click Yes.
JG4_Deciman Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Had this several times, too But IIRC it was allways when - having a group set as 'working' - AND deleting selected objects after using 'Find mission objects' from inside 'Search and select' - AND having any of the 'selected' items INSIDE the 'working' group Can not say that it IS the reason, but I noticed most of my crashes under these conditions... Thanks ,had to repeat process to get it "reset". 11 minutes ago, JG4_Deciman said: Had this several times, too But IIRC it was allways when - having a group set as 'working' - AND deleting selected objects after using 'Find mission objects' from inside 'Search and select' - AND having any of the 'selected' items INSIDE the 'working' group Can not say that it IS the reason, but I noticed most of my crashes under these conditions... This--> AND deleting selected objects after using 'Find mission objects' from inside 'Search and select' Just a guess But if I am right (and I really think I am) try the following.... Set the 'Main' group of your mission as 'working' create 2 new objects (timers, icons, ....) mark these objects and group them name the 'new' group as 'dummy' (or whatever you like) set the new group as 'working' delete the 2 objects inside that group (now you have an empty group with a given name) Do your 'crashing' actions (setting whatever as working or not, select objects) afterwards set you 'dummy' group as 'working' and then try to delete the selected content... If I am right that bug only occurs when trying to delete selected objects globally from the mission when having ANY of these objects visible inside the mission tree (as the group is set 'working') Deci

If your mission loads, select all and save it as group. delete all (if possible?) and reimport that group you saved. Let the mission editor do it's thing and wait. Then save under a new name. Close and restart the ME and one might get lucky?
