Hi all,

just want to do the different colour schemes from all the factories which build the different batches of the Dora production. Which are Focke-Wulf factory, Werserflug factory, Mimetall factory and Fieseler factory.

The very first production batch from the Focke-Wulf factory, WNR 2xx xxx. They were build in autumn 1944 and III./ JG54 was the first unit flying the Dora 9.

The camouflage was a RLM 76/75/83 painting in a very clean way. It was replaced with RLM 76/82/83 after WNR 210274.

This one is WNr. 210015, pilot Willi Ungar 9./JG54 - updated to V2 with alpha layer:

Fw190-D9-weisse2-alpha.png

The early build Weserflug Doras (WNR 4xx xxx) had a RLM 82/83/76 paintscheme sometimes the fuselage toned down with RLM 02. Later on the planes had an upper wings high contrast scheme with RLM 76/83 or 81. The lower wings all had the W3 scheme with partly unpainted areas.

Fw190D9 WNR 400271, black 1 + -, from 10./JG 2, found at Altenstadt March 1945 - updated to V2 with alpha layer:

weserflug-schwarze1-alpha.png

Also, with the later high contrast camouflage scheme, the Yellow 11+ -, WNr 4006??, from 7./JG 2, May 1945. Unusual is the massive overspray of the fuselage with RLM 82 - updated to V2 with alpha layer:

Fw190-D9-gelb11-alpha.png

Black 1 and yellow 11 are packed together into one skin pack as Weserflug factory pack:

http://axis-and-allies-paintworks.com/e107_plugins/download/download.php?action=view&id=1227

The Fieseler factory production Doras (Wnr 6xx xxx):

Fw 190 D-9, Wnr. 600175, yellow 8 + l, 11./JG 26, Faßberg April 1945 - updated to V2 with alpha layer:

Fieseler-gelbe8-alpha.png

painted in RLM 76/82/83, the lower wings are painted as W2 scheme, with RLM 76 and unpainted surfaces without a darker leading edge - typical for Fieseler birds

And another Dora produced from the Fieseler factory with a different paint scheme: Fw190D-9 Yellow 11, 3./JG2, may 1945, WNr 600 ??? - updated to V2 with alpha layer:

Fieseler-gelbe11-alpha.png

Fw190D-9, WMr 600xxx, Black <||, Stab I./JG2, Frankfurt april 1945 - updated to V2 with alpha layer:

Fieseler-chevron-alpha.png

The MiMetall build batch with Wnr 5xx xxx

blue 12 from JG 6 - updated to V2 with alpha layer:

Fw190-D9-Blue12-alpha.png

Fw190D-9, WNr 500093, yellow 13, 3./JG26, Obgfr. Dieter Krägeloh, january 1945
The aircraft belongs to the first production batch from the MiMetall factory, which has been produced entirely in December 1944 (WNr 500001 - 500130). The plane was thrown into action shortly after being delivered to JG 26, with it´s ferry number still on the tail. Operation Bodenplatte was the first operational mission for Dieter Krägeloh with the Dora 9. He crashlanded after attacking the airfield of Grimbergen (Belgium).
The plane was painted RLM 76/02/82/83. It had a Junkers factory scheme with the straight demarcation line between RLM 76/02 and top RLM 83 colours. The lower wings with a W3 scheme and the upper wing surfaces with a RLM 82/83 camouflage which was completely conventional for the period.

- updated to V2 with alpha layer:

Mi-Metall-Gelbe13-alpha.png

Fw190D-9, WNr 500572, white 3 + -, 5./JG26, 5 may 1945 - updated to V2 with alpha layer:

One more MiMetall plane with the more typical paintings:

WNr 500698, brown 18 + -, 7./JG 26, belongs to the third and final production batch from the MiMetall factory. This third batch is sporting the late war Luftwaffe colours, as well asthe final evolution of camouflage techniques and methods.
This colourful aircrafts was one of three D9 that were surrendered intact at the airfield of Schleswig-Land (Jagel) on 5 May 1945.
It was painted with RLM 76/02/81/82 on the fuselage and the high contrast scheme RLM 76/81 on the upper wings. The lower wings are sporting the W2 scheme with RLM 76 and unpainted areas, without a dark leading edge. Interesting is the landing gear painted RLM 81 with the number 18.

Your "BROWN 18"

Hi Boelcke,

the shape and size of the number 18 differs from the original (see page 282/283!). Sorry, can you please change it?

Posted

You´re right the number 8 is a little more bulky, but it´s difficult, cause i don´t have a font with this look. Will see if i can change it tomorrow.

... finaly, changed the number 8

Edit 19/08/022 updated again to V 3.0 corrected the nose section

skin updated with alpha layer

The handpainted numbers of the last days of the war are always a problem, cause usualy you don´t find a font for it - so there was no other way than to paint it myself ... exhausting.

The corrected skin is available here:

Another MiMetall factory bird:

Fw190-D9-WNr500666-yellow15-alpha.png

The plane belongs also to the third and final production batch from the MiMetall factory. It was painted with RLM 76/02/81/82, the lower wings with a W3 scheme, the leading edge most likely painted with RLM 81.

A last Dora skin for now, will have a break before going on with more Doras ...

Fw190D-9, WNr 210239, black 3 + -, 6./JG26, pilot Fritz Hanusch - updated to V2 with alpha layer:

Fw190-D9-WNr210239-black3-alpha.png

A plane from the first production batch of the Focke-Wulf factory (WNr 210001 - 210300). The change from the first build planes paintscheme with RLM 83/75/76 took place during the November 1944 production run, when the RLM 75 colouring was replaced with RLM 82.
The aircraft with WNR 210239 was heavily damaged in a crash landing on 9 March 1945 and broke in two. The pilot Fritz Hanusch suffered minor injuries.

I´m just highjacking my own thread, but didn´t want to create a new one for just one single Fw190A8/R3 ?

It´s the well kown plane from Wilhelm Moritz, IV./JG 3, a Sturmbock:

Fw190A-8, WNr 681382, Stab IV./JG 3, pilot Wilhelm Moritz, Autumn 1944 - updated to V2 with alpha layer

Fw190-A8-Wilhelm-Moritz-No1.png

According to it´s WNr a Fieseler build aircraft with the typical small motteling for the Fieseler factory.

In game you have to choose the Sturmbock option.

Have changed the topic into Dora and Anton skins ... i´ve found some more Anton skins which were looking very nice to me for skinning, so i will post these here also:

Fw190A-8, WNr unkown, white 14, 7./JG 300, pilot Erich Staschewski, March 1945 - updated to V2 with alpha layer

Spoiler

Fw190-A8-white14-JG300-No2.png

It´s not clear if this plane was an A-8 or A-9. In the history of JG 300 from Lorant/Goyat, it is shown as A-8.

The heavy motteling looks realy brutal. The lower wings camo is an asumption, as it is not clearly shown on the existing pictures.

Have updated both Anton skins, i´ve added a second version of the skin with alpha layer into the pack - the dl links are still the same

For the Fw190A-8, WNr unkown, white 14, 7./JG 300, i´ve corrected some small glitches of the skin without alpha layer

FW190A-8, WNr 680137, white7, II./JG1, April 1944

Fw190-A8-white7-JG1.png

Not realy a late war plane but interesting:

White 7 belongs to the first batch of Fw190A-8, which JG 1 received in April 1944. It´s a Fieseler build plane which i found interesting because of the painting with the typical motteling from Fieseler aircraft. The same camo which the Dora 9 aircraft later also got.

Fw190D-9, WNr 210xxx, Brown 9 + -, 7./JG 26, February 1945

Fw190-D9-WNr210xxx-Brown9.png

An early Focke-Wulf factory build Dora , with the typical RLM 74/75/83 camouflage.
The aircraft flown by Siegfried Sy, was lost after taking AAA hits in the engine, on 4. April 1945. The pilot managed to force a belly landing, but the aircraft suffered a 100% damage. The last operational picture was from February 1945.

with some more sources like WNr or photos i can do it, but a profile only isn´t enough to do it the right way. I usualy don´t do skinning without photos.

I have done some research and the plane was flown Oblt. Waldemar Radener, 7/JG 26. Nordhorn-Clausheide. Several aircraft of the Gruppe   WNr.  began with 600XXX.

So close, but I will continue to look. Thanks

One more ride from Oskar Romm:

Fw190D-9, WNr unkown, black >>, pilot Oskar Romm, IV./JG 3 Prenzlau March 1945

Fw190-D9-Oskar-Romm-JG3.png

The plane arrived IV./JG 3 in March 1945. It´s technical features confirm that it was an older Dora 9 which has gone through a major repair and painting process, most likely at the Fieseler factory in Kassel. It was probably a Focke-Wulff factory build plane from the WNr 2111xx batch.

The fuselage is painted in a solid RLM 81, the upper wings most likely RLM 81/82 and the lower wings as W3 scheme with unpainted areas and RLM 81 leading edge.

Fw190D-9, WNr 210003, red 1, III./JG 54, Pilot Hans Dortenmann, autumn 1944

Fw190-D9-Dortenmann-JG54-V2.png

The longest serving operational Dora 9 in ww2, flown without interruption by Hans Dortenmann. It was poduced with the very first production batch from the Focke-Wulf factory in late August 1944. It was painted in the usual Focke-Wulf factory scheme with RLM 76/74/75 at that time. Later in war, it received a new paint scheme with late war colours.

Fw190D-9, WNr 500xxx, yellow 3, probably I./JG 6, Plauen May 1945

There is not much kown about this plane. A MiMetal produced Dora9, found at the end of then war at Reichenberg CZ. It is often shown as a JG 6 plane, but until April 1945 I./JG 6 didn´t have any Fw190D-9´s. Possibly is that it was a JG 2 aircraft, but there is no evidence about it.

Hi mate, I guess you have a little error here. It either can be "red one" if depicting his plane at 12./JG 54 or it can be "black one" if depicting it as a 14./JG 26 plane or "yellow one" if depicting it as a 3./JG 26 plane. And yes it was always the exact same airframe, which he blew up in May 1945.

According to  Axel urbankes book about the Doras in III./JG 54 Dortenmann was Staffelkapitän from 11./JG 54 which had yellow numbers, when changing to 14./JG 26 in February it changed to black numbers. It became the later a new painting together with the black/white Fuselage band.  So, you´re right it has to be changed, but into yellow 1.

Well yes and no. He was Staffelkapitän of 2./JG 54 from 06/44 onwards which was renamed 12./JG 54 in 08/44. On 19/02/1945 he switched to 11./JG 54 which became 14./JG 26 at 25/02/45 when III./JG 54 was disbanded and became IV./JG 26. At 31/03/45 he switched again to 3./JG 26. See pages 245-246 of Dortenmans "Fliegers"

So he was with 11./JG 54 only for 5 days from 19/02/45 - 24/02/45.
