My keyboard and mouse are not responding in VR

For the first time, my mouse clicks and keyboard presses and not being recognised in IL2. The mouse pointer moves. That's about it. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? 

I'm running in SteamVR with a Valve Index.

Go outside of VR and look at your mouse on the desktop, then click on the IL-2 game popup window.  Then go back into game, it should work then.
