how to load / use the planes of the custom_planeset.json?

Hi,

For different years for Vilikiye Luki I wanted to use different custom_planeset.json files, that contain only the selected planes.

I created one file for mid 1943 and copied it to the data folder of EMG.

But when I start  EMG in Plane Sets / Custom Plane set still all planes are shown.

How can I use the special defined custom_planeset.json?

(By the way, my first additional front line seems to work, thanks for your help!)

Best Regards

If found this warning when running in my SDE: Warning: Custom planes file invalid! Reverting to defaults. This means it can't load/find the file or is not a valid json file.

Did you perhaps use simple notepad to edit the files? Could be an encoding thing. Try to use Notepad ++ if you are editing these files.

I need to add these warning to the log file, so users can see it as well.

Thanks for your answer!

I will try.

As an alternative I could with "Copy Preset" "move" the 1943 planes of "Kuban" to the custom plane set. Maybe better and faster than my idea.

But I will try Notepad++

Best Regards

Updated: editing of this file with Notebook++ did not work too. But this is not a problem, because the definition of the custom plane set with "Copy Preset" is fast and comfortable too, and the other configuration files can be edited with the standard Windows editor too.

Yes, that's the idea. You can copy a preset of a theatre and then tune that set by adding/deleting planes. Then hit save.

Have just realised, that new EMG v611 has automatic plane selection according plane / mission date. Great!

So my question concerning custom plane sets is a bit outdated.

I have created an additional version of my Velikiye Luki new 1943 frontline without the plane types in the maps.json for EMG v611. The automatic selection of planes for 1943 worked.

Best Regards
