I had to do a re-install of Win 10. After my re-install my Crosswind pedals are working in windows but do not work in IL2. IL2 allows me to assign the crosswinds a function but they will not move the axis when testing or in game. I have re-installed the game, unplugged and plugged back in the pedal usb, tried other USB ports. I am out of ideas. Anyone have any suggestions?

Try holding the pedals full forward along with brakes when you start to assign in game. Pedals fully in one direction, brake pedals fully depressed, then assign and see what happens.

Alternatively try clicking on "invert" for the pedal axis setting then try assigning.

Also after the reinstall did you calibrate the pedals in the Crosswind software first?

That's what I would've suspected too. Don't calibrate any of these newer devices with Windows - always with their own calibration tools, if they have them.

You may also want to double check that your stick is selected as "preferred device to use with older games". That sometimes fixes it and other joysticks/game-controllers not getting recognized by certain games. Right click on your stick in "devices and printers", then "game controller settings". Highlight the stick in the list and click "advanced". In the dialogue that pops up, make sure your stick is selected and press "OK".

Thank you for your quick replies.

I did not calibrate in Crosswind software first. I used windows. But I did calibrate it afterwards. Should I uninstall the crosswinds and then calibrate  them in CW software then try IL-2 again?

 See Edit 2 First.

If  you have not already done a bunch of mapping, I would delete the contents of the data/input folder. Then calibrate again in the Crosswind software first. Then launch the game and try setting them up then. You can also just copy the contents somewhere safe that you can restore if needed.

Edit: You might want to uninstall the pedals in device manager in windows control panel first as well. You need to get rid of that windows calibration you did first to be safe. Then reboot the PC, and use the MFG software first for a fresh calibration file. For things like Crosswind Pedals or VKB and Virpil devices - never ever calibrate them in Windows. Only with their included software.

Edit 2: Try this first if you have not already done the above - go to your device manager in control panel, right click on the MFG Crosswind Pedals icon, then click on game controller settings. Then click on properties. This will bring you to a window with the tab selected on the right for "test". Click on the tab to the left of it for settings. Then choose to "reset to default" then apply then close.

This will wipe out the windows calibration you did with your pedals.

Now load up the Crosswind Software and calibrate properly. Once done then launch IL-2 and hopefully it will let you set things up. Your axis weren't working properly because the standard windows joystick calibration can not accommodate these newer higher resolution devices. They were speaking a different language than windows joystick settings were. The windows joystick setting has not changed in years and not kept up with the times. Ok for maybe X-Box controllers, but our hardware? Not a chance.  Sorry for all the text but this last part finally occurred to me as probably the best all around option.

I had to go into the Windows joystick calibration after this latest firmware update from MFG and reset everything to default as well, since the yaw axis was showing pressed all the way to the right every time after I calibrated the pedals in the MFG software. Once I did that, I was able to go back into the MFG software and calibrate things properly.

Thanks for all your responses. Problem solved by deleting input folder and in-putting all control bindings. Everything is working fine now!
