What's Your Personal Soundtrack/Playlist?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any recommendations for music to listen to while you fly to get you into the WW2/1 aviation spirit?

I'm putting together a Spotify playlist to play while I fly.

I never fly with music playing.  It's a distraction from the job at hand.

FYI, It's historical fact that listening to music increases your fighter pilot prowess and also reloads your weapons, ask Doug Masters ?

I don't usually listen to music while flying, but whenever I take the Dr.I for a spin, I like to play The Red Baron by Sabaton in the background

I used to fly the original “Jet Fighter” on my PC Junior with that soundtrack playing…over, and over.

Mostly “One Vision”

Anyway, listening to music why flying WWI or WWII - lol, umm nope.

Not with DCS either - too much workload

I have mixed feelings, and may not make sense.

I really like watching combat video footage from others and my own, with a hard/heavy rock soundtrack.

BUT:

I don't care more music while I'm flying as I find it to be an immersion killer.

It helps get me in the spirit. In my mind, I'm in a movie. So COMPLETE immersion. ?

Adopt your Billy Bishop persona and play Canada's unofficial national anthem from days gone by:

Be sure the say "Sorry!...eh" after shooting down your German foe.

BTW, this version was used as the introduction to Norm Christie's great documentary on Canada's soldiers in the Great War, For King and Empire.

Erika!

According to youtube, that song is evil. They even deleted my Ju-88 video… 3 or 4 years after it was uploaded. ?

Yeah...it took me a while to realize that was what they were saying in the closing line ?

Unpopular opinion:  I've always liked Iron Eagle's soundtrack better than Top Gun's soundtrack.  Top Gun has the anthem and Danger Zone.  But how many times outside of an aviation related environment are you really gonna listen either of those songs?  Iron eagle has a ton of classic rock that is playable for regular listening. Top Gun is clearly the better movie though!

Concerning music while flight simming, I do sometimes, I'll play something externally like on my phone low enough to not interrupt comms if I'm playing multiplayer, usually just regular music or instrumentals (Dunkirk Supermarine gets its fair bit of play)

Vincent/Jello from Fighter Pilot Podcast flew his Hornet on a low-level VR with One Vision playing. He says that’s the song that happened to come on…but I think he timed it that way.

Sad to say I've never watched Iron Eagle. But after seeing it referenced in Cobra Kai, I'm going to have to add it to my watch list.

First one goofy fun, second one, less goofy fun, third one, has a P38.

I put together a playlist with movie soundtracks (over the half is filled with Star Wars score by John Williams - another third comes from Hans Zimmer ^^)

Thanks to this video, I discovered the soundtrack to Secret Weapons over Normandy. Unfortunately, it's not on Spotify or Apple Music (my two go-to music streaming services).

But I had no idea Michael Giacchino did game music. Thanks to this discovery, I'm adding his Medal of Honor soundtracks to my playlist.

Check out Harry Gregson Williams if you like Hans.

As far as my personal taste in gaming soundtracks go, it's just Cap from the Grim Reapers shouting "get some" over and over..... ?

"Target destroyed" by Acorn Six, on repeat, is my go to.

Was a huge fan of the original Company of Heroes and still play it to this day.
It has a great soundtrack for pretty much anything related to ww2 and I often listen this playlist while flying in career mode.

Spoiler

During quiet moments, particularly on winter maps like Moscow and Stalingrad, I sometimes switch over to the Company of Heroes 2 OST.
Songs like Footsteps in the Snow really nail the underlying tension and bitter cold ambience- I highly recommend it for Tank gameplay.

Too easy:

OR for Bob scenarios( or Clod..) nothing fits the time period better than Ray Noble , Al Bowlly & other British bands of the 30's...

cuando vuelo no escucho música.
pero si me gustaría tener música para usar en videos sin copyright
Me gusta la música que usaron en este video sobre la expansión de Normandía

When I fly I don't listen to music.
but if I would like to have music to use in videos without copyright
I like the music they used in this video about the expansion of Normandy
