Went ahead and pulled the trigger on a new GPU (sort of)...spare 1060 3GB coming up for sale soon...

...because I'm not about to dish out €600 for the 3060 Ti that I want. Silly prices just aren't coming down it seems.. :(

A buddy of mine just upgraded his PC and was offering me his two year old 2070 Super for a very good price. Couldn't say no and now I'll risk my PSU, I suppose. Power calculator gives me a recommended PSU of around 560W for my system with the 2070 Super added, and my Seasonic FX+ is a 550W. ?

Hope I won't fry that thing, but seeing the power draw from my CPU in games, I seriously doubt it. I'm not about to run Prime95 all day, so I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed. It's not even the additional cost that I mind the most, but the prospect of having to re-do all the cable-management after just a month and a half or so. :)

My "new" card should be in the mail tomorrow and here by mid-week. So if anyone (preferably from Germany to keep shipping cost down) is interested in a hardly used MSI Aero ITX 1060 3GB (small form-factor, single fan card), let me know. I bought the thing in 2018 or so (still have the receipt), but never used it or even took it out of its box until I put it into this new rig at the end of March 2022. So, nearly new old stock, I guess. :)

The card does run IL-2 in 1440p rather well with only a few bells and whistles turned off and preset on "High". I'm getting 70 to 100 FPS with my settings, depending on the mission. I ran it on the "Ultra"-preset before and even then and with things like clouds on high or max and 2x to 4x FSAA, FPS never dropped below 60. I did post my results with this card in the benchmark-thread in this forum a few weeks ago.

Well.. looks like the GPU market over here is still pretty hot. Just sold the card on ebay for 96 € + shipping. Which is about what I hoped for since it's basically brand new, but I can't say I was expecting it to go that high. Still... for a 4 year old GPU with only 3GB of memory, that's still a pretty decent price. Some might even say it's a bit ludicrous to pay this much for an entry level card that's about to be three generations out of date, but I'm not complaining. :)
