Game recognizes the throttle but not the flight stick.  Says "plug in controller"

Stick does absolutely nothing in game.

Any ideas.

Go into your Window's Device Manager and select Universal Serial Bus controllers and if you see one with a red exclamation mark click it and update it's driver and/or make sure both boxes are unchecked in the power manager within properties <right click>.

Better yet, there's already a topic for this problem.  Here's the link

If the device shows up in Windows, I had a similar issue when upgrading my stick and throttle. It was because I had more than 8 controllers on my PC.

Go to <game folder>\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\input and check the devices.txt file. If there are already 8 in there I'd disconnect as many as I could and then only connect the ones I wanted for IL-2 and redo the mapping again. Just remove the devices.txt and input.map and start IL-2 again.

you could use USBdeview.exe for that; you can see which are used (green ones), and delete the rest ..

I've cleaned out old devices a time or two in the past but not for this reason. So if I unplug the old stick or device IL-2 would "reset" IL-2 devices.txt as well? I think (unconfirmed) I tried that and that was not the case.

In my case I hade a lot more than 8 controllers connected (DCS don't care) and my stick didn't end up in the first 8 and was not detected. Cleaning it out devices.txt and connecting less than 8 made them all appear in IL-2. Then I could add all the others in again.

If you have the IL-2 game icon on your windows desktop you can simply right-click it and select "Open file location". That would take you to the bin-folder. Navigate two folders up and go into data\input. It should be there.

have the icon but right click just brings me to Steam.    File location not and option

r click on Steam gives me file location  but just steam files noting with "data" in the name.

Ah, you're on steam. Then check what folder the games are installed in in steam settings.

Browse the folder

And go to common. All games should be there but I don't have IL-2 from steam so I not 100%.

found data/input and deleted it....no joy.

Then I "removed" TM files and rebooted with stick and throttle plugged in and was able to set 3 axes and they functioned.  Now I just need to put every single command onto the game, I guess?   Cause the hat switch doesn't work and I assume none of the other commands will either.

No problem. I have a good tool for making screenshots (greenshot). I hope it worked out for you.

And I see it almost did... the hat works in the Windows Game Controllers?
