Dear Pilots!

Today’s DD is all about the mighty Mosquito FB Mk.VI, which is nearing completion for Battle of Normandy! We are finishing her systems and flight model and preparing her for release. As you can see from the images, she is a really good-looking aircraft and there are tons of armament options. She packs one hell of an offensive punch with awesome flight performance. We think she will be an incredibly popular ride in Great Battles. Below you see the almost completed cockpit along with several armament options and skins that will be included. Unfortunately, some systems were not functioning yet, so I was unable to launch any weapons or engage in combat, but she will be entering Beta very soon where the testers will put her through her paces. Stay tuned for more as we get the “Wooden Wonder” ready for release!

Amazing! Really good modelling and texture work on this one, nailed the look. Any word on its modification list like the 410? ;)

Several rocket load outs, 150 gas, remove exhaust covers, Mk.II gunsight, 57mm gun and a TON of weapon loadouts to choose from. I'd show a pic but the GUI portion was not ready, nor are the tactical codes ready.

The wooden wonder indeed. Very interesting to see how they integrated the coolers into the wings.

What a beautiful bird, amazing work guys, can’t wait to fly her.

It is so satisfying to have UK/Commonwealth aircraft/squadrons represented. I also don't think anyone will remotely regret having the Mosquito, Typhoon, Tempest, Hurricane, or any of the Spits... all interesting aircraft to fly or fight! I do hope that any early Cold War module would follow suite if the Korean War era is ever modelled (it'd be neat to have the later Vampire, early Venom, Meteor and early Canberra in addition to the American jets).

Anyway, I'm increasingly feeling fulfilled by this sim in multiple ways. I think this series really will be the definitive WWII sim.

Having the navigator's seat? Would that be fun? I'm curious about how you'd envision the gameplay as working!

P.S. I do wish the right-hand seats for the Bf-108 in Tobruk and the Ju-52 were available - at least for single-player. There is something enjoyable about being able to fly from the other side of the cockpit sometimes... adds variety.

I love the Officer's Club / Briefing Room too...

I do worry sometimes that we are a bit like a nest of baby birds... almost insatiable and constantly begging for more morsels! I hope we don't tire the team too much!

It is pretty hard to not be really enthusiastic though - given the amount of stunning quality being offered.

Nice?

Hopping we will get "Cookie" - 4000lb Blockbusterbomb bomb used on Mosquito Mk.VI? Should not be problem as BlueSide already has similar weapon for long time?

Pure filth those images, stunning lines on a perfectly crafted body. You are making a middle aged man very happy ?

No Mossie today??? Well I should have guessed ...after all it is Friday the 13th!

Did the Mosquito play any role in the Bodenplatte map area and campaign time frame? I.e. will there be Mosqito squadrons added to Battle of Bodenplatte campaigns?

I know there were night bomber versions and recon - but we have the fighter-bomber version as flyable.

I think there were some FB.VI equipped with Serrate? Were there many intruder ops? I'm honestly no expert. I suspect it should be there though, in some capacity.

I think you'd need a Mosquito Mk.IV or Mk.XIV for that. I'm pretty sure FB.Mk.VI doesn't have a large enough bomb-bay. It'd be pretty neat to have those aircraft though... or at least the PR version as AI (which could be hunted by our Fw-190s in the daytime). It is a lot of work though (even with the work on the FB.VI) and I'm pretty sure an AI Il-4 or Wellington would add more useful gameplay.

Amazing! It's really amazing! One of my favorite planes! Will the second navigator help the pilot find the route? After all, that's what he's on this plane for.

Was FB.VI version able to carry torpedo? Should be expect it by some miracle in weapon loadout?mosquito_gb_790_naval_air_squadron_1_by_claveworks_decju2b-pre.thumb.jpg.2db1238e34e41368108d7b0f34dfc31f.jpg

No, the FB.VI couldn't carry a torpedo.

The only Mosquitoes to carry torpedoes (as far as I know) were Sea Mosquitoes which, although based on the FB.VI, were different in quite a few ways (4 bladed props, folding wings, modified undercarriage with smaller, higher pressure tyres, arrestor hook etc).

Sea Mosquitos only entered service after the war, and from what I've read were not terribly popular with the Fleet Air Arm pilots, as they were a handful when carrying a torpedo, and a very large aircraft to operate off a 1940s British carrier.

Thnx for the info!

Than it would be cool new mystery aircraft to be annouced is Ju88a17 or ju88a4 torpedo modification.

Yes, there are several units planned - 5 playable and 3 AI. They should start showing up in November 1944.

The AQMG could also do with more anti-shipping templates... maybe some ships at anchor, individual ships (rather than convoys), torpedo boat squadrons? Some variety at least!!

From what I've read you're looking at somewhere around 360mph~ on the deck without drop tanks/ordnance/etc on 150, which is definitely not bad at all for an aircraft of her size
