Help! Mission Editor is running incredibly slow?

My mission editor has been running incredibly slow and laggy lately and this is especially annoying when making missions, anybody experience this before?

I do not have the game open. The only other applications I have open are Discord and my web browser.

The only time I remember anything like this was with RoF - using the Channel map.

The mission-making was ultimately aborted.

No light to shine on the problem though..

Loading times vary with the map size, and sometimes complexity of a mission.

What i sometimes do with large missions is select all and save as a group file. Then delete all and reimport the saved group.

Let it run out, don't do anything until it's finished loading.

Seems that the loading is faster then. Resets the MCU etc numbering & bookkeeping?

Creating a new mission first seems not necessary.

You mean in the viewport, when moving? Or that it takes a long while to update the treeview on the left?

The latter problem happens if there are too many objects in the mission. Using groups will improve it.

The former problem is something that I occasionally suffer from as well. A reboot invariably solves the problem for me.

Na, I'm experience the former problem. I'm familiar with the momentary lag when placing new objects but this problem I'm experiencing I can't pinpoint what the issue could be.

Sometimes it's not there, but often times it's there and rebooting it 3x even won't do the trick.

The best way to describe it is like seeing a game running when alt tabbed out and it's incredibly stuttery because it's out of focus. Now imagine that, all the time, with the editor. That's what I'm experiencing.

Yeah, it's a problem I occasionally encounter as well, when starting up the editor after my laptop has been to Sleep or Hibernate mode.

Besides rebooting (the PC I mean, not just the editor), starting up the editor while running the game in VR mode occasionally solves the problem.

So just keep restarting PC until it fixes itself?

Have you tried resetting the mission editor with theResetEditorSettings.bat (in the mission editor folder)?

Negative, I'll try that tonight.

Didn't know there were even settings to change in the first place.

Dont think it worked.

Double clicked on it but nothing happened? If it did, it did not fix the original problem.

In my case, one restart is enough and works 100% of the time.

I noticed that a lot of expert mission makers often only use grouping with map related blocks like cities, airfields, bridges etc.

This seems also with career, QMB, and advanced QMB missions.

But Syn_Vander's Mission generator's files contrarily uses grouping for the action stuff like planes etc almost always.

These missions run very smoothly.

As said, saving a large slow loader or even ME crasher's content as one big groupfile, then deleting the lot, and a reimport usually fixes it.
