Aircraft Engines Modelling

Does anyone know which engines are modelled in the Spitfires and Hurricanes in the Sim?

I'm specifically interested in knowing the engine types modelled for

Spitfire Mk 1a 100 Oct
Spitfire Mk IIa
Spitfire Mk IIb
Spitfire Mk Vb
Spitfire Mk Vb HF
Spitfire Mk Vb Late
Spitfire Mk Vb HF Late

Hurricane IIb

Hurricane IIc
Hurricane IIc Late

For example, the Mk Vb had several engines in service with the RAF - Merlin 45, 45M, 46, 50, 50A, 50M, 55 and 55M

Hi Padre,

 

you can find some information in Flashcards for Spitfire and Hurricane versions but not as detailed as you probably want I'm afraid.

 

You can visit ATAG forum and try to ask there. The developers are more active there than here.

I recommend asking Buzzsaw. He is the best one to ask because he has created most (if not all) flight models for new aircraft added to Cliffs of Dover in Blitz and Tobruk.

The engines modeled in BLITZ aircraft are:

 

Merlin II (both +6 boost or 87 octane and +12 or 100 octane versions)  -  In the Hurri I DH-520 and Spit I

Merlin III (both +6 boost or 87 octane and +12 or 100 octane versions)  -  In the Hurri I Rotol and Spit Ia

Merlin XII  (+12 boost or 100 octane) - In Spit IIA

 

Engines modeled in TOBRUK aircraft are:  (all on 100 octane)

 

Spitfires

 

Merlin XII  (+12 boost) - In Spit IIB

Merlin XLV (+12 boost) - In Spit VA, Spit VB

Merlin XLV (+16 boost) - In Spit VB-Late, Spit VB-Tropical

Merlin XLVI (+12 boost) -  In Spit VB-LF

Merlin XLVI (+16 boost) - In Spit VB-LF-Late, Spit VB-LF-Tropical

 

Hurricanes

 

Merlin XX  (+12 boost)  In Hurricane IIA, Hurricane IIA-Trop, Hurricane IIB, Hurricane IIB-Trop, Hurricane IIC, Hurricane IIC-Trop

Merlin XX  (+14 boost)  In Hurricane IIB-Late, Hurricane IIB-Late-Trop, Hurricane IIC-Late, Hurricane IIC-Late-Trop, Hurricane IID, Hurricane IID-Trop

 

Please note, the maximum boost and horsepower output for Tropical model engines is reduced over that for Temperate models because of the restrictive air intake... this can be seen in the lower Full Throttle Heights, etc.
